Nothing too surprising here I guess. As far as I can tell, the three main points of the article were as follows:
(1) Based on strong attendance this year, the team payroll should increase from the $63 million for the 2006 team.
(2) Jason Kubel is expected to be the everyday LF in the future, though he has yet to prove he can stay healthy enough to do so.
(3) Nick Punto will be the everyday 3B next year.
Of the three, I'd say his discussion about Kubel was the most interesting and uplifting. It doesn't seem like the team has soured on Kubel as an integral piece of the team in the future, as some writers/bloggers have suggested.
I really wish TR was more open to moving Punto to 2B and finding a more "typical" 3B, but TR is generally risk averse and doesn't seem to want to mess with success. Whether Punto (and Castillo) can repeat this year's performance remains to be seen however.
