Lohse the Closer

Watching Kyle Lohse do his one-inning stint last night made me think -- does this guy have the potential to be a closer for a team.

Would he want to be a closer for a team?

Could he be marketed as a potential closer for a team?

And how do you show him off as having such potential...pitch him one inning every couple of games until the trading deadline comes upon us? Send him to Rochester to close (and bring up Neshek)?

And after tonight, we'll see if Carlos Silva should return to the bullpen and become the guy you might wish to go to with men on base to get that ground-ball doubleplay, but only if you also bring in his favorite shortstop, Castro, to play shortstop -- then they both can happily drive the old $100,000+ Hummvee around town after the game!

Just a thought.

Stinkers one and two, though -- i.e. Crain and Willie (three walks makes me look like a Red Sox pitcher) Eyre -- need to be addressed, soon, too. We only need one pitcher in this clubhouse to come in and do mop up work with a &+ or more lead. Ah, rememebr the days when Johann filled that role?
