Liriano
The Sisco was just named to the all star team to replace the injured Jose Contreras. It is good to see the pitcher on pace to win the Rookie of the year and Cy Young awards finally get on the team. I believe it was ESPN (I know, I know, I won't quote them again soon) who went back in time and couldn't find a starter with innings and an ERA under 2 in the last 40 years not on the team.
It is, however, also annoying that Kenny Rogers will be the starting pitcher in the game, mostly because of his 11 wins. Coupled alon with those wins are his 'meh' 3.86 ERA and unimpressive perifreal stats. Meanwhile, Roy Halladay was 12 wins, with an ERA just under three, and he gets nothing. Not to mention John Lackey with his 2.88 ERA and 97 K's.
It is frustrating, because Rogers doesn't even deserve to be on the team. Now that Liriano is on the team, his teammate, Justin Verlander should recive his spot. Instead, Guillen said "He is the best pitcher in teh league right now," and he starts the all-star game.
Whatever.
