Well, it's official...ex-Twin front office guy Wayne Krivsky is in love with Juan Castro. The 34-year-old+ infielder, who batted a whopping .235ish this year in 100 games, was given a 2-year extension (he ahd a million-dolalr option for '07) with an option for '09 to be the major stopgap in the Cincinnati Reds infield if trouble should arise.
The Twins missed out on the oppoortunity to keep Juan around and make him the back-up for the future, instead sticking with Luis (am I ever gonna play again) Rodriguez, Terry Tiffee (where will I go in '07) and a number of other aging AAAAers waiting in the wings.
Of course, Juan is more at home in Cincinnati, batting .270 in 50 games and fielding all those grounders that got thru the Twins infield when Kyle Hose was pitching in the upper midwest.
I still like the concept that we got Brandon Roberts, though.
