John Sickels posted his prelimminary Red Sox Top 20 today. Interesting stuff. To put this in context, the Twins do not have an A or A- prospect in their system. And John rates both Ellsbury and Lowrie as A- prospects. He also rates Bowden, Masterson, and Kalish as B prospects.
If the rumored 4-1 deal of Santana for Ellsbury, Lowrie, Masterson and Kalish got done, those four prospects would instantly become top six prospects in the Twins system. And Ellsbury and Lowrie would be first and second. I trust John a lot and I know he really agonized about these two lists (he's still agonizing about the Red Sox list). So if I were in Bill Smith's shoes I would take that deal.
