Missing Starts

Is this a good thing or bad?  From the PiPress:

"Skipping a starter: With a day off Thursday between series in New York and Miami, the Twins will skip Slowey's turn in the rotation this week, in order to keep Silva and Santana working with four days of rest. That means Boof Bonser, Silva and Santana will face the Marlins next weekend, with Slowey's next start coming Tuesday, June 26, in the Metrodome against Toronto. That will be eight days of rest for Slowey."

Is that going to be a good thing or bad thing for Slowey?  I don't have any stats and it isn't due to his ineffectiveness but it seems Twins younger pitchers in the past have not fared well after this much rest.  But what do you do?  You can't skip Johan, Silva is pitching well and Boof is a horse...

Skipping
Is that going to be a good thing or bad thing for Slowey?

It could be either or not matter at all. And we will never really know.

My take would be that Slowey will not be effected one way or another. If it gives him some extra time in the bullpen working with Anderson it might help him.

Scary
"It could be either or not matter at all. And we will never really know."

That's pretty true.  Or at least I'd say we won't know until we do it, or unless we do it a few times.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if his next start after he goes out and doesn't pitch so well.  Hopefully, the Twins will blow somebody out in there and he can go out and get 3 innings on the hill in teh middle.  He's a smart kid, and I don't expect him to get too flustered by it.

It's a vote of confidence for Baker too, that he isn't the only one to be skipped.

It will only really hurt him if he doesn't pitch well this next time, then they start skipping him more , then the problem only gets worse and worse.  That's sort of what happened with Baker, but Slowey has pitched better overall than Baker did LAST year, so...

At any rate, more Santana = good.

Baseball is great because you cant take a knee or kill the clock. You gotta put the ball over the plate and give the other guy his damn shot E Weaver abridged

Skip Baker...
I wish the Twins had pitched Boof on Friday and Baker on Saturday.  That way it would have been Baker's spot getting skipped.  Unfortunately, now he'll get to pitch to the Mets on Wednesday.

Hey......
worse yet, it could be Ortiz pitching. Wait, it might be starting with the 4th inning!
