Target Field and upcoming All-Star Games

No where have I heard any rumors of the Twins being interested in showing off their new stadium in the next few years.

The 2010 All-Star game will be played at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, the 2011 game looks to be hosted by either KC, Arizona, or the New York Mets, and The Red Sox have been making a push to host the 2012 game.

Why is it I haven't heard anything about MLB having a future All-Star Game at the new Target Field? It would be great exposure for the organization.

KC could have it in 2012, not 2011. ’11 is an NL year.

The Twins’ best shot to host it might be 2014, but it might be far enough away from ’08 that they could put it in the New Yankee Stadium.

However, you forget that Target Field is really small and doesn’t have that many seats in comparison to some of these other stadiums.

Of course...

…PNC park is the smallest in the big leagues at 38,000 and change, and it played host to an All-Star Game.

Park capacity isn’t even a factor for choosing an All-Star Game. Never has been.

On the same hand, why an All-Star game years down the road would be “great publicity” for the Twins escapes me.

Actually..

Kauffman stadium’s capacity will be 39000 in 2011 and Fenway Parks will be 38000, while Target Field will have a capacity of 40000.

Actually....

there’s already been talk of a big push to host the All Star game at the new stadium. There was a big article on the Twins site about it a few months ago.
