Jon Knott?

It seems that Jon Knott would provide a good bat off the bench for pinch hitting.  He has very good power and seems to be a better option than Craig Monroe.  He does lack good defense which could be an issue...  Especially with the Minnesota Twins. But I'd like to see more of him.  Your feedback would be great.
Regards,
Brian

I'd like to see him
If Punto can't get off the snide and Tolbert proves adequate. Some will call for Ruiz or Buscher, but I like Knott because he can spell Morneau against some lefties and he can play corner outfield positions. His hitting is not quite up to Ruiz standards, but he's a good hitter. I was actually more impressed with the 12-pitch at bat today that ended in a line-out than the homer on the first pitch.

He's "knott" signed
to a contract, is he?

I thought he would refuse assignment and catch on elsewhere.

How much

How much do we have to pay Monroe if we cut him now?

Monroe's Buyout

It's not on Cot's Contracts, but I think it's (roughly) $600k, up from $300k if they'd cut him two weeks ago. I'd guess that the fact that he made it past the first cut date makes it pretty likely that he'll be on the opening-day roster.

cutting craig

Did anyone seriously think that Gardy would allow Monroe to be cut, even if he sucked in the spring? Even with him we're way below our mediocre veteran quota.

I wasn't

asking if he would make the team (that seems pretty clear). I was just posing the what-ifs.
