Going Sleeveless?

So a couple of years ago the Twins rolled out an alternate home jersey which was no different than the original except someone cut off the sleeves.

Star-divide

Does anyone know if these things have finally gone away? I personally hope so. I think the Twins have great jerseys but these were anything but great.

Of course if the season is going into a tailspin maybe someone like Boof will choose to wear one of these w/ a red TC cap to boot. If that happens and Twins go on a streak like the Rockies did last year (w/ their black alternates), I guess I'll have to eat my words and go out an buy one. Anything for another division title and a shot at playing in the WS.

GO TWINS!

Alternates
Didn't they at one time have a totally red jersey as an alternate?

I loved the red 'Dairy Queen' (as people called it) jerseys

I think
I think they quietly retired those "pixie vests" (credit: Batgirl) after a few weeks of the season in 2006.  They also stopped wearing the red hats on Sundays when they seemed to lose every time they wore them.

Starting pitchers
Isn't it the Starting pitcher's decision as to what jerseys go on, unless there's a hot streak running like how they always wore navy in the last two months of the 03 season?

Garza wore the pixie vest a couple times last year.  I remember thinking, they didn't drop those yet?  I would think it would be more a liberating attire for a pitcher to only have cotton sleeves, but I guess Twins pitchers care about looking good too.

Re: Pitcher's Decision
I think that's accurate, I know Silva used to love the red caps.  Although I can't remember if/when we stopped sporting them last season.

Yes, that's true
SP's pick the jerseys.  I have a feeling none of them really WANTED to sport the pixie vests when they were out... but the club had to market them.  I'm sure there were some strong "recommendations" from the front office to some of the younger starters that "today might be a good day to wear that vest jersey."

This is all just speculation, mind you.  However, you never saw Santana sporting the pixie vest.  I assume no fans wanted to buy them and they went the way of the White Sox' "shorts" outfit from 30 years ago.

Not necessarily
At TwinsFest it was said the starting pitcher is often asked which jersey, but the decision was ultimately up to someone else (the manager, I think).

I don't like vest jerseys
but if the Twins were going to try to squeeze some $$$ out of me by using one, they could have at least used a new design. Cutting the sleeves off the home whites is not a new jersey.

Again I'm glad they are gone and I hope they don't use a red jersey. I think the Twins have great jerseys as is.

Blues
I have always been an advocate of wearing the powder blues from time to time. I love the retro.

Vests
I have often thought vests were more functional. Have you ever examined Ichiro's prepitch routine? It  is an elaborate way to reduce the way that polyester sleeves bind when you swing the bat. The vests aren't a problem in this respect.

But I hate the way they look.

The vests look right for some teams
or maybe "team".

The Pirates look right in the vests.  The A's could get away with it, though it's been a while since they used them.

The Reds too.

For our Twins, though - ugh for the vests.

If they have to be, put the TC on them.

Alternate Cap
I never liked the red cap they used to wear on Sundays.  I actually would like them to use a red-brimmed home cap now and again, though.
