Rain Rain, Go Away

It seems obvious to me from where I'm sitting here, but for those of you who don't live in Chicago, the Twins final game with the White Sox has been postponed due to hard rain.  Based on forecasts for the weekend series in Kansas City, this way be the first of a couple games missed in the next few days.

O=I'm pretty disappointed by the rainout in general, since Twins vs White Sox is the only time I really get to watch the Twins play until June.  On the other hand, Joe Christensen detailed in his blog why the rainout may be coming at a good time for the Twins.

Anyways, on to Kansas City we go.  Livan Hernandez will presumably get his spot in the rotation in the first game on Friday (assuming it is played), facing off against Gil Meche.

Weather

It's pretty aweful weather here. Adam, where in Chicago are you? I live in Palatine, but work in the city.

I will say it was a rough time for the twins to come through Chi-town... The games are on TV, but there's no way I can convince my wife to watch Sox/Twins instead of an effing 3 hour Idol Gives Back.

What would my life be like without the '91 World Series?

Re:

Adam you know they're coming back here in May right?

I was at the game last night. Fun stuff, but I had no feeling in feet walking down the ramps.

What's the word on Lamb today?

Hmm

Hmm, I may have to go to one of those May games. I've always been histant to go to a Twins/Sox game at US Cellular, because I am honetly afraid I'd get in a fight, but seeing how few fans were there last night makes me think I might not have to worry.

I'm up in Evanston at Northwestern. That's why I get back in June. Im not super desperate to see the Twins, because I go to lots of games in the summer, but I miss them for the first couple months.

I would have LOVED to be at that one last night. Every time the Twins hit a dinger, "You can put it on the boooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaard, yes!" Using their own crappy, crappy catchphrases against them. Now THAT'S entertainment.

Twins games in Chicago

I go usually once a series. For the most part, I stand up and cheer at the top of my lungs when something goes right. I don't taunt*, but I don't hold in my excitement when it's there. Sox fans respect that.

If I get taunted, I smile and roll my eyes as if was being roasted at the Friar's Club. For the most part, the worst that happens is that you might get some peanuts thrown at you if the Twins win, or mocking slaps on the back if the Sox win. The only time my wife (still working on her conversion, but she's still a Sox fan) ever feared I was going to get in a fight was late 05 when the Sox won the game, and the bravado on the South Side was getting a bit out of hand.

Confession to make: Southpaw the Sox mascot stopped when he saw me in the concourse after a bathroom break, and offered to give me a high five. I was still in work clothes, so he didn't know better. I did accept the high five. I felt dirty about it afterwards.

*Except that game in 06 when Mauer hit a 3 run homer to bust the game open off Neal Cotts. Cotts was nipping the corners to a 3-1 count. I shouted, "YOU'RE SCARED, NEAL!" Some lady behind me shouted back, "SHOW HIM YOU'RE NOT SCARED!" And then, BOOM! Deepest part of the park. Then there was a little talking.

I

I really don't like Sox fans. Like, REALLY don't like Sox fans. I've been to other places and had no problems, but I don't trust myself with that many Sox fans around.

Check out their blog

I've perused the South Side Sox a few times so far this season and have been pleasantly suprised with both the tone and the content. They have some good mederators there (just like we do here) and they talk baseball, and disagree appropriately. I really expected to see more knee-jerk commentary and cursing. Instead I found some good fans and good attitudes.

Check out this post asking White Sox fans to rank managers. The majority of the respondents put Gardenhire either in the top 5 or the top ten.

Your Neal Cotts story is great.

I get to watch the Twins when they come to Oakland every year and it seems like the A's fans have become more and more angry. Wearing my Twins jerseys when they are in town is almost like wearing the other teams jersey at a Raiders game. Yes, in my opinion A's fans are that bad now.

I always make sure to be respectful, mostly b/c I want to survive but it has become so bad my wife won't go to the games with me anymore.

It really is too bad. It's just a game. We are all just fans and I doubt that any A's player is going to be impressed by the stuff they do and threaten. I won't stop going to games but I tell you it is extra sweet when I get to visit the Dome and be the home team.

Hmm...

....good thing we have a stadium with a roof for another year.

Anyhow, with the season starting I'm back. I also managed to go to the Saturday KC game which was fun, been a while since I've watched them win a game when I'm there.

Why?

It's not like it's ever rainy or snowy or unbearably hot in Minnesota..........
