Lineup request
Give us some pop, sick of everyone trying for seeing-eye singles. Hit some balls over some freakin' heads.
Gomez CF
Redmond C
Kubel DH
Morneau 1B
Young LF
Lamb 3B
Monroe RF
Tolbert SS
Harris 2B
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

that is only a hypothetical lineup right?
god it would be nice to see Kubel hit third, but obviously it's not something they could do everyday.

that was a great comment
The Kid looks wild and like he needs another start at Rochester, but Gardy knows what he's doing?

Here is
when the wheels fall off....Liriano is struggling mostly with his command right now.

3 - 1 Royals
not looking good so far. Gomez needs to have better at bats to start

Velocity
Why is Liriano's velocity around 90 on his fastball again? I thought he was getting it clocked up more. He has a lot of work to do getting over the mental hurdle and throwing like he's fully healthy again.

another 1,2,3 inning for the Royals
Sometimes I wonder if players just want to get out of town once they have won the series.
It's like 40 degrees in KC, and like I said they've already won the series.
The Twins just don't look too sharp at the plate at all. Then again maybe Banister is that good

Combination of both
It's both. Bannister is good, but we also have a few very poor hitters in the lineup, and a couple who are slumping.

I said to myself after the first inning
"I'll bet that's all they do today: a two base error and a busted bat single to score him."
Gardy gets his 'get-away line-up' in there and they roll over like little lambs to the slaughter.
Really, if you look at this series, it's amazing the Twins won it. Their offense is still in hibernation, and if people like Lamb, Monroe and Young can't make regular extra base contributions, this team will go absolutely no where-- despite the overall excellence of their pitching.

Yeah
Yeah, I've always hated Gardenhire's B-team for get away days lineups.

Hrm.
I actually thought the Twins didn't do too terribly today -- it seemed to me to be more of a combination of Bannister being excellent and the cold/wind. There were some great hits to left that, had the temperature been 10 degrees warmer, would have been warning track or out.
Liriano's obviously relearning control. But I expect that will improve over the next few months. If he can get a little more efficient and go six innings, which is certainly within reach, he'll keep us in the game enough to get back to lights-out without killing us while he learns. Provided we actually score runs.
