The kid’s just not a battler.

You know, before I took my nap in the seventh, I was just think how we didn’t have any sure things in the pen. Nathan had thrown five innings coming in, and Neshek six, but nobdy else had thrown much. Guerrier was burned out for tonight, Bass just had a bunch of mop up, Rincon had only two, and Crain had tretired only eight batters since shoulder surgery. I didn’t know who to go with.

The good thing about the bullpen is with all the extra pitchers around, we should have plenty of candidates. Glen Perkins will ultimately be a reliever I think, and Humber seems like a decent candidate there as well. We can only start 5 guys, and they have the stuff to be short inning guys.

It’s hard on the stomach.

I hope Nathan doesn’t earn all that cash on his ass

Eh, I try not to get too high or too low this early on, or at any point. He hasn’t pitched great, but there was some shoddy D behind him, etc. Saves aren’t a great stat to look at for this anyway. We’ll see what his line looks like near the end of May, then we cna think about getting worried.

I don’t mind winning close games, but if the other guys in the pen screw up then all the money we paid Nathan will be a waste b/c he’ll never get in the game.
