Game 15: Rays @ Twins
Tampa Bay Rays at Minnesota Twins, Apr 16, 2008 8:10 PM EDT
James Shields VS Livan Hernandez
James Shields, by many accounts, looks like he could be the real thing. He's 26, two seasons removed from a fairly successful rookie season. Quietly putting together the start of what looks to be a solid career, I'm looking forward to getting a first-hand look at him tonight.
For more on Shields, I highly recommend this quality report from Driveline Mechanics.
GO TWINS!!!

Livan
is in trouble early. 1st and 2nd, two out with Longoria at the plate…

Wow
Fastball right down broadway. All I can think of is that Longoria must have been expecting something a bit faster than 85.

Leadoff
Double by Morneau (almost homer :() but left stranded at third….this offense needs a little jolt. Come on Twins!

Kubes comes thru
with a big 2B. Puts the Twins back within one.

Oh and look at that...
...Harris comes through and drives in Kubel. Back to zeroes, 2-2.

Man talk about Livan on a prayer
I’m getting Ponson flashbacks tonight, there’s been guys on base all night. Except when they’ve gone yard… thank god or this game could be out of reach.
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

except
Ponson was never 3-0…Livan is so much better than Ponson or Ortiz.
He will lose his share of games but he is a better pitcher than either of those two.

shades of ponson
not saying he is or is going to be like him, just saying it reminds me of his pitching tonight.

Holy crap, Gomez
Sorry just 1 more thing and then I’m off…Gomez just stole his second base, giving him 9 already this season.
Wow he’s fast.

amazing speed
I wouldnt be surprised if he attempts to steal third here with Mauer up!

he was
Gomez was tied with Chone Figgins with 7 stolen bases
I am surprised about Delomn Young’s speed. The few times I’ve seen him on TV, he looks huge and not really a base running threat

All is right in the world
3 scoreless innings by the pen. Thank God it’s about time they came back to restore a bit of confidence..
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
