gotta love gameday...
Ponson is shown in his Twins uniform, pitching to twins players…

Sure
But why rest Gomez again, did he tweak something last night? Or is Gardenhire giving playing him based on some sort of bizarro-world splits where he rests against bad pitchers?
Didnt
gomez hurt his calf last night?

18-pitch inning for Ponson
but that GIDP by Mauer is a site I’m tired of seeing.
Gameday listed Harris as having a hit on the 4th pitch of his PA, and the 6th pitch. Intriguing…
Now pitch 4 is listed as a ball
but Kinsler’s at-bat has him making outs on the first and third pitches of. What’s up with Gameday this year?
Baker looked ok in the 1st
Some of those knee-high pitches weren’t called strikes, but they could have been. It’d be good to see him stay sharp.
Ponson's thrown 30 pitches thru 2 innings.
And he hasn’t re-conditioned himself enough to make me think he can continue those pitch counts and not get tired early. Eventually you’d think the Twins could just start sitting on fastballs. It’ll be interesting if he’s still hitting 92-94 by the fourth.
Ponson
was clearly trying to stay away from Kubel there in the second…unless he just doesn’t have any control, which I could believe. Four fastballs away, Kubel fouled off two of them. All of them could have been balls.
single by Lamb
that is nice to see….I really hope that Lamb will come out of his slump and hit above the Mendoza line! He is no Punto and he will do better….
I was really hoping
he could turn out to be a decent 7/8 hitter…not necessarily a big run producer, but someone who wouldn’t get bowled over three times a night. He’s been rolling over on a lot of pitches so far this year, but it’s early. I hope he puts it together.
OMG
Ponson actually gets a strikeout??? Tolbert turned into a defensive player there….emergency hack at that third pitch and he missed it….not a good AB at all by Tolbert.
man
Ponson has two Ks now!!! come on Tolbert and Harris you must do better….just sit on the fastball and drive it….you will see it at least three times in a 5 pitch AB, sit on it….come on
we have to score more
if what we saw last night is going to come back…..our offense cannot go to sleep. Baker is good through two but so was Blackburn.
GO Twins!
don't worry dude, this is Sir Sidney we're dealing with

I am having
memories of last night right now! come on BAKER!!! it would help if we had speedy Gomez in center to catch that…..
well that helped
nice K by Baker…..now he needs something on the ground to SS to twist a DP….except this is Hamilton one of league leaders….
and there it is
a looping double down the LF line….2 runs score.
tied!
as Chitown announcers would say: a little shank double; if he is going to hit a double he should hit a double like our guys do.” ....sry but that makes me laugh each time I hear that, because Chitown hits a lot of loop doubles
Ponson punches out Young
and in doing so wastes Kubel’s single.
At least it was another long inning for Ponson. I don’t mind getting into that Ranger bullpen.
17 pitches for Ponson in the 4th
He’s mixing in more than fastball/changeup now, too:
Fastballs-13
Changeups-1
Curveballs-3
Gomez
would probably be 2-2 already with two bunt singles…I have to believe that is what he would do vs the chunck of lard on the mound….maybe that is the only thing to do now for this Twins offense besides Morneau….maybe we should just start laying down bunts see if anything can happen.
The offense is doing ok tonight so far.
The pitching staff just has to keep them in it from here on out. Five hits, a walk and a pair of runs aren’t bad through four innings. And as Ponson wears out (66 so far), and as we get into their ‘pen, we should be able to put something more on the board.
Should be.
1-2-3 fourth for Baker.
Back on track. He was all over the place against Catalanotto, but no harm done.
Short inning for Sid.
He came right after Lamb, Monroe and Tolbert—right around the strike zone with all of them this time. Tolbert hacked at the first pitch, but at least Lamb and Monroe made him throw a strike before getting themselves out.
are you watching it,
or going by gameday?

Mauer in the 1st
Was that Mauer’s 5th GIDP in only the 21st game? THAT is not a stat which makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
by montanatwinsfan on Apr 26, 2008 9:19 PM EDT reply actions
all right,
im probably being both redundant and unfair, but yet another GIDP for Mauer is very frustrating.

Divine intervention
allows Guerrier to retire Catalanotto. I think Frankie C. is playing for the Twins tonight.
5-2 Texas through five.
And now it's time for bed.
It’s after 2:30am and the wife is wondering why I’m still up watching baseball.
She may never understand me.
Or, conversely, I have a problem.
Goodnight, TT. GO TWINS, I want a comeback to read about in the morning!
looks like Jesse will get his wish
He will definitely have comeback to read about, now hopefully he’ll have a win to read about too.

Tie game into bottom of 6th?
I wonder if we’ll get a reprise of ‘closer or non-closer’ from last night?
maybe
who knows….we almost had another Texas lead but luckily Cuddy made a nice catch
say…have you seen on the headline by Kelly Theiser?
Gimpy Gomez sits out…..come on Creamcakes he is not “gimpy”
Out of curiosity...
...did you know that Gomez has never played more than 42 games in the big leagues before being sidelined by an injury?
Small sample size, yeah, but ‘gimpy’ does kinda fit.
by dwintheiser on Apr 26, 2008 10:13 PM EDT up reply actions
not to mention,
he did limp off of the field last night didn’t he? That, by definition, is gimpy.
by montanatwinsfan on Apr 26, 2008 10:17 PM EDT up reply actions
gimpy
is more for an old man who has shrapnel in his leg….not for a young man who just aggravated a cramp by kicking himself in the calf.
So...
...you gonna tell us what ‘Creamcakes’ is for?
:)

I think I found a bio of Kelly Creamcakes

I call her creamcakes
Because she’s just so doggone cute. And it’s an alliteration. And I like cream cakes. That is all.

I'm thinking...
...German’s sub-1.00 ERA is a bit misleading.
Crain relieves 'Sampler'
with pinch-hitter Jason Botts announced.
and gets out of the jam
comes in with men on 1st and 2nd and one out and gets the outs
nice work, Jesse
Tolbert gets a hit
Now let’s see Morneau and Cuddy get outta the no hits club too.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
Some highlights
Crain’s 2 K’s to end the inning
Delmon Young has taken good at bats tonight and gotten hits to either field
Mauer’s bunt was terrific. He needs to give lessons to Gomez.
http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/
Aaaaand this one is over
Cuddyer hits a three-run homer for his first of the year.
Twins lead 12-5.
Cuddy's
first hit is extremely nice…..a homer!!!
Tolbert is the only one with an 0 across the board! get back to Tolbert and let him get a hit!!
Twins tie number of runs scored in a game and also have exceeded the number of hits they have in a game
Korecky
Let him go in and hopefully mop up the last two innings.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?
Delmon
today has had really good ABs….here is a summary:
1st AB: 5 pitches Result: single
2nd AB: 6 pitches Result: strikeout
3rd AB: 5 pitches Result: walk
4th AB: 3 pitches Result: 2 RBI single
5th AB: 5 pitches Result: groundout
Total # of pitches seen: 24 pitches in 5 AB? not bad
Tolbert
is guaranteed another AB so hopefully he will get a hit and all the starters will have hits!!!
someone should tell Jesse
to go to bed in the 5th more often.

Dangit
You beat me to it. I was going to note that the Twins have scored 10 unanswered runs since Jesse left.
Maybe his wife knows more than we think she does…
