Man, he looks awful so far. No control.
Of course, we still have to be able to hit the ball…

not a bad pitch
The curve that Bradley smashed was actually a decent pitch; low and inside, on the border of the strike zone. Bradley just hit it perfectly and deposited it ten rows back in RF.
Honestly, the few Livan starts I’ve seen I’ve been relatively impressed with. And I bitched as loudly as anyone (Gleeman excluded) when we signed him. Sure, he’s no flamethrower, but he seems to make good pitches when he has to most of the time. Let’s hope he doesn’t turn back into a pumpkin any time soon.

robbed!
Lamb just got robbed by Broussard on a very sharply hit line drive down the 1B line. Would’ve been extra bases for sure, but for a nice defensive play.
Mr. Lamb seems to be making better contact these days, no?

monroe
I’m glad he remembered how to swing the bat and all, but dear lord is he awful in center. Just misplayed a ball hit to the track into a two-out RBI triple, dropping us to 8-0.

What's the over/under on Hernandez?
Deja vu all over again with Ortiz, er, Hernandez. If he keeps pitching like this, I’ll give him five more starts before he’s done.

WAAAAAAAY Over
The Twins are paying Hernandez over Twice as much a Ortiz got. Not to mention, to be perfectly fair to Hernandez, he is a better pitcher than Ortiz is.
I wouldn’t mind at all to see him gone. I’d actually be very happy. Nothing against him, but I’d like to see the young guys in there.
But for 5.5 to 7 million he’ll be sticking around.

Nah, we got two runners on and 3.1 innings to score 9. We can do it! Get some sleep, Fauntleroy. Pip pip!

funny
that’s a new one, i hadn’t heard it yet. i’ll have to add that to the list.
you know what i don’t think i’ll ever get used to here—cockney rhyming. it makes no sense to me. even when i know what the translation is, all i can think of is….just say the real words! it’d take less time!
Offenses based primarily around singles...
...which is what the Twins’ offense is—are going to be really inconsistent. Some days (yesterday, for instance) the singles sneak through the infield or fall in in front of the outfielders, and everything looks great, and other days the batted balls find gloves. We saw the same thing last year, where we got shut out a bunch of times, but had other days where we scored 7-9 runs.
I think we were shut out 14 times last year
I think this year we can improve on that. I think the Twins might be shut out 24 times.
Still, though...
...I see your point. We’re only on pace for ~600 runs this year, so things will probably pick up eventually. It would help if Lamb stopped hitting like Punto.
Doesn't really matter...
...when you allow 9 runs, even a mediocre pitching performance will get you the L.
Why not Hamilton?
I know it’s second guessing, but the Rangers didn’t have to give much up for that guy, and he can hit a little.

I would rather have had Hamilton...
...than Delmon, and would have said as much in the offseason. Scouts love both players’ tools, but Hamilton’s had better recent success. In the long run, Delmon could still turn out to be better, but I have a feeling it is going to be at least a couple of years before Delmon really puts it together, if he does at all.
No need
There’s an X in the box score in the bottom of the ninth, mercifully.
