Let’s not get carried away yet… we can’t judge Gomez based on 10 bad games and we can’t identify a “Jesse curse” on 2 games…

... And really, can we blame the bowler for a couple sticky wickets?

What would my life be like without the '91 World Series?

Speaking of sticky

When are they going to unstick the sticky stat widgets?

What did we expect from Livan?

In six starts the guy is 3-1 with an ERA of 5.05, with a WHIP of 1.46, 13/7 K/BB. Overall, I think he is right where we expected him to be. He just did it by have 4 good starts and 2 terrible starts. I think someone (CMath or Ubelmann), suggested that exactly that would happen, based on his stats compared to his quality starts in the past couple of years. When he struggles, he gets shelled. That is not suprising for a guy who’s average pitch is in the mid-70s. If you don’t throw hard, don’t throw strikes, and struggle to get effective movement (note the word effective, not “a lot of”), then you will get killed.

Follow up

Also, if you’re going to have a 5.00 ERA, better to give up 7 runs one day, and not more than 4 any other. If you’re going to lose, give up all your runs that day.
