The people sitting in the stands tend to live in the past – what did you do yesterday? What’s your batting average / OBP your last 10 games? And so on.
Baseball is a ‘delusional’ sport: your team’s not as good as it looks when it’s winning – or as bad as it looks when it’s losing.
The proper response to Sunday is “Good grief, we stunk yesterday; thank goodness for the off day.”
