Where is the love for Kubel
The Startrib's write up for today's game has a nice big headline of Hunter getting a HR but as much as we all like Torii he plays for the other team. Kubel hit a HR too and he plays for the Twins.
I'm glad Torii is done with playing the Twins in MN. Maybe now we can get more news on current Twins players instead of throwing out the red carpet for Mr. Hunter.
The affection shown the 1st night back was warranted and showed Twins fans to be a class act. The 2nd night was great w/ Torii getting his gold glove. But I think it has gone a little too far. Afterall, he made a CHOICE to leave. No one forced him. (go ahead and start the "you would have left your job too lines now")
I'll be in LA in August when the Twins play the Angels again but I won't be there to root for Torii, Torii who? Sorry there isn't a player named Torii Hunter on the Twins and as you can see from the front of my jersey, I'm a Twins fan.
GO TWINS!

I'm with you
I'll be glad to see the Torii train head out of town. But the weekend was a nice chance to say "thank you and goodbye" to one of our hometown heroes. It may have seemed to last a little long (mostly because those hits kept eluding him... which is good), but I think fans of a sport often operate like an extended family. When someone is gone, we do need a bit of a grieving process. We just happened to need it for our former team leader as well as the best pitcher to have ever worn a Twins uniform. I think we spent it all on Torii since we won't get to with Johan.
Plus, the media need another story other than "oh, boy they still can't hit."
it took about ten seconds...
for me to be sick of hearing about how "emotional" the series was for Torii. Honestly, who cares. The Twins made the right decision not to keep him and he made the right decision to sign a better contract with a better team. Give him a standing ovation on opening night and get on with it.
Kubel is maybe the only Twins hitter that has looked good so far. I'm excited about him and our young pitching.
