Twins Lineup
Gomez
Tolbert SS
Mauer
Morneau
Young
Kubel DH
Harris
Lamb
Span RF
This could be an interesting lineup, I predict our first double digit scoring day. It also doesn't hurt that Tomko is horrible. Now watch him dominate and make me look stupid.
I am really impressed with Tolbert so far, hope he can keep it up. He pissed me off on Friday night by screwing up what should have been a double play in the first but he made up for it with some great plays later. Here's to having speed at the top and bottom(span) of the order.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?

I'm just happy
that Kubel gets DH duties ahead of Monroe. Good decision.

6 hits through 4
but can't string any together and score. Gomez thrown out at second by Guillen and Harris just hit into a DP, we haven't been the beneficiaries of any breaks yet.

JUSTIN GO BOOM!!!!
Never feed Justin that up-and-in fastball. Never.
Actually, no, do it. Do it again.
2-1, Royals.

I think
that we can safely say the Morneau (or as I used to say: More yes, less no)....has broken out of his slump.
I hope he does it again soon!! SOON!

Boof
Is it me, or is Boof throwing very few curves? I've only been watching for the last two innings...was he throwing more earlier?
Also, man does the back end of the Royals' lineup suck.

According to Gameday
he's thrown 11 curves through 7. Three of those were in the seventh, none in the sixth.

Aww, Kubes!
Heckuva line drive to the right center warning track. That's a double against most center fielders.

The other Jesse
He's got his curve diving pretty durn nicely, and a little pop on hist fastball too. Man, if he can come back for reals that would be nice.

game over.....geez
sunofabiotch we should of swept the Royals now we face even tougher teams in Detroit, Chigaco to name a few....
this isn't going to get any easier than the Royals, even if they have improved quite a bit.

Wasn't a bad game
Frustrating with the offense, but it was a good game to watch. Bonser looked pretty good, which is important for the long haul.

Boy was I wrong
I was really excited about that lineup but they just couldn't string anything together. No breaks went their way today. Another solid outing by Boof and the bullpen though. Can you believe through 7 games our starters have only walked one guy? That's crazy.
Good to see some hits coming from the team now just a few more in clutch situations would be nice.

Strikezone
One thing that ticked me off today was the strikezone. (This is all according to what I saw on Gameday). At the beginning I was a little ticked off at the ump for calling it the way he did but later on what was really frustrating was the fact that nobody adjusted to it.
It was somewhat small top to bottom, but very wide side to side. It was consistantly that way all game, yet in the bottom of the 9th Young and Kubel take called 3rd strikes on pitches on the inside and outside (respectively) of the plate that had been called all day.
Bonser did get 2 or 3 called strike 3's also because of that fact.
Ending the game on two backwards K's, however, really magnifies those mistakes. It shouldnt happen.

I thought so too
I was watching it on TV and honestly I thought the ump was making strange calls all day but for both teams. Honestly, he just seemed inconsistent. You'd see what looked like the exact same pitch and he'd call it a strike once and a ball the next time. At least he was doing it for both teams though so it wasn't a big deal. I don't mind when an ump has an odd strikezone he's calling as long as he keeps it consistent throughout the game.

Agreed
I thought it was a wierd zone too, but it went both ways. I wouldn't trust gameday too much for location, when I've watched on TV and on gameday it didn't look too accurate. That was last year though, so maybe they've improved it since then.

Lew Ford
Hi All!
This is a complete change of topics, but I thought some of you might find it interesting (and some of you will certainly not).
Lew Ford, playing for the Hanshin Tigers here in Japan, had been struggling with his new team (.158 BA), but he led the Hanshin Tigers to victory over last year's Central League champions (Yomiuri Giants) in a 6-1 win this weekend, going 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI.
That's all!
