Sorry guys
A little late on posting the game thread. I suck.

Nice 2B
by Lamb to put the Twins back in front though; 2-1.

Gomez
goes down swinging to strand Lamb. Twins by one, through 1.5.

Blackburn's first inning:
19 pitches
15 strikes
He might be around the zone a little too much for a team like the Sox. It might just be my interpretation, but I see the Sox as an aggressively swinging team.

Second Inning
24 pitches
12 strikes
That was a bit too far the other way.

White Sox Team
They're rolling offensively with their hot start. Somedays you just gotta come in prepared to battle your way through a lineup. Just keep'em off the board, we're rootin' for ya big Nicky.
P.S. if Kelly Theiser reports again that a pitcher had a bad start because he didn't keep the ball down, I might have to kill myself.

Blackburnsy's pitch count
gettin a little up there. Dude needs to get some quick outs in the coming innings here. The good news is that the whole team gets tomorrow off so if we have to burn up the bullpen a bit it shouldn't be a huge deal. Did Crain pitch Saturday or Sunday?
Let's hope he can turn it around.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?

Young
Man is he useless right now. No protection for anyone.

Blackburn's fastball
If he can keep that heavy fastball tumbling in at 93-94 mph maybe those cats over at BA weren't so crazy after all.

Sox Bullpen
Looks like we'll see them in the 6th right now. How is their bullpen this year? Hopefully as bad as the Tigers, huh?
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?

the chicago announcers
are just fawning over twins pitchers, it's pretty hilarious

It's only because we're ahead
If the Sox were ahead they'd be even more unbearable. Good Guys this, Good Guys that.
I can't stand that crew.

They regularly do that
I remember them fawning over Silva early last year when 2006 was still fresh on my mind and just remember shaking my head. Although I will admit they're 10 times better than Dick and Bert, especially when it comes to relevant game time discussions.

Allow to respectfully to disagree
but The Hawk and Dj make Dick and Bert sound like Vin Scully and John Miller.
Those guys are awful!

lol
where does Joe Buck fall into this discussion?

I know I'll burn for this...
...but when Buck just sticks to the play-by-play, I don't hate him. I think he's alright. It's when he tries to insert his opinions on strategy and color commentary that he hits the bottom of the barrel.
He's like baseball's Pat Summerall in that way. He's great as a robot.
by Jesse on Apr 7, 2008 6:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree Buck is not bad for a robot
great line by the way...
but if I wanted to have a game called by a robot, I'd just watch it using MLB gameday

Dick & Bert
are two of the best. I say that as objectively as possible, they are consistently entertaining, which is really all you need to be as a TV guy. I have checked out A LOT of broadcasts since getting mlb.tv, and I can honestly say that most TV duos are terrible. They sound completely bored, which Dick & Bert never do. I live in Boston so I hear the Red Sox guys pretty often, and they're not bad either.

Dick and Bert
are great as entertainers. As far as insight and play-by-play I think they're pretty standard for pairings that follow clubs. If you can put up with Bert's schtick and Dick's attempts at analyzing the game, they're good. Ultimately, they call the games for my team, so I like them....Bert makes me laugh at least once a game, for any number of reasons.

The B**** Sox guys are the worst in the MLB
Just total homers. Yup, good guys vs the twinkies, I hate when they say that.

I say Gardy brings in Rincon to blow it

Gomez
looks really overmatched every time he comes to the plate.

Offense
This team needs to bust this game open in the bottom half of the inning. Middle of the order coming up. Can't keep having these close games every time you wanna win.

It's too bad we're in the same division as the White Sox
because if we weren't, we probably could have swung a deal for Crede in the off-season. And knowing the tendencies of Kenny Williams, we probably could have picked up him for Juan Rincon, Erik Lis and a pudding cup.

had to listen to chi sox radio broadcasters last year
and they were pretty good. Fair, objective, yet homers. Exactly what you would want. A little dull, but no one is more dull than Dan Gladden when he is doing play by play.

Good, better this way
better this offense learn that it can't lean this hard on their bullpen.

Yay for small victories?
Mauer grounds out, but advances Span to second. One out.
by Jesse on Apr 7, 2008 6:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Within 3
Young's grounder gets re-directed by Linebrink, Span scores. Morneau up to second, Young on first, one out.

Harris
Fastball low and away, ball 1.
Fastball low and away, over the black, called strike 1.
Fastball low and over the plate, grounded to short. Cabrera to Uribe....and that's game.
Sox win, 7-4.
Twins fall to 3-5.

Span
Anyone notice that Kelly Creamcakes over at mlb.com already posted a story about Span and moving up to the 2 hole. Took her all about 1 hour after game time to lay some more praise for Span. What is with our media and this kid. He's nothing more than a 4th outfielder and never will be!
P.S. if Kelly Theiser reports again that a pitcher had a bad start because he didn't keep the ball down, I might have to kill myself.

he never will be...
but as for right now, he looks a lot better at the plate than our other two outfielders
