Happy Mother’s Day, to any mothers who happen to read the site!

If Everett

continues to struggle at the plate, I wouldn’t mind seeing Casilla get a couple weeks of starts under his belt. With Everett on the bench for defensive purposes if necessary, I think Casilla could benefit from seeing some consistent time. He won’t be here long, so it might be a nice opportunity for him.

Shocking!

I agree. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see the Twins’ patience against Wakefield. They roughed him up pretty good.

That sound you heard in the bottom of the 7th?

That was the sound of Jason Kubel being nailed to the bench.

Give credit to Nathan for getting Manny.

I was screaming at the TV to walk Manny to face Alex Cora…. but Nathan got him.

yeah

I would of walked Manny. but it all worked out

At the dome

They showed a great stat… Manny’s record against Nathan: 0-6 with 5 K’s. Once that flashed up on the board, I said “Go after him.”

He did and it worked out.

No Way!

Nathan owns Manny, and Manny was 3-23 lifetime as a pinch-hitter.

Cora is 5 for 6 since coming off the DL. Pitching to Manny was 100% correct right there.

Nice win...

...to regain sole possession of first in the Central.

Nathan looked a bit shaky with a three-run lead, but then again, the highest-scoring offense in the AL will do that to you sometimes.

Cora

Cora was 3-4 and clearly seeing the ball well. Manny was sitting on the bench all night being Manny. Nathan is one of the best closers in the game, in my opinion you dont pitch scared. Joe is getting payed to get these outs and he did.

Man the Sox are tough outs

I didn’t see anything wrong with the way Nathan was throwing. 85-96 fastballs. 88-90 sliders. Curves in the low 80s. With the exception of the mistake pitch to Youkilis, everything was on the corners. But they made him throw 35 pitches and he barely escaped while only giving up two runs—only the second time this year he’s given up runs. They just took great at bats against him.

Gomez helped extend Nathan's night

JD swings. Ball goes out. Carlos comes in.

Yeah

It was a tough play, but if he takes the right first step, he has it easily. All part of the learning curve.

I'll take Nathan...

...in that situation every time. The Sox really have no weaknesses on the hitting side, and once again, did get the BIG out, the one he had to have.

It was a great game for Monroe, and once again, despite the BA, Lamb drove in two big runs.

This was a good win. Blacky pitched reasonably well; I’m glad he escaped the inning where Tolbert threw the ball away…I had visions of a 10-run inning.
