Ok...
Howie Clark is getting the start at third base this afternoon, he’s hitting 7th in front of Everett and then Slowey.

I kind of like
the idea of hitting Delmon 2nd though. Give him a different mind-set when stepping into the box maybe, perhaps giving him a perspective of a table setter. Might breed some patience and selection.
Might.

pretty ugly looking lineup
leave it to the Twins to give a struggling pitcher a chance to get his game back
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

Not much you can do...
Gomez is a little banged up, Lamb is struggling, no DH and no Mauer (again!). The lineup really loses a lot of its heart when you can’t put M&M back-to-back.

Okay, so this is
completely arbitrary, but if I were constructing lineups with these players, they’d look like this…
Harris
Young
Morneau
Monroe
Cuddyer
Redmond
Everett
Slowey
Clark
7-9 in our order looks a little rough today, so if Clark is able to get on, I’d rather see the top of the order coming up again as opposed to the pitcher. Again, with the people available, it’s really cutting hairs and a little out of the ordinary, but I think it has some advantages to it
And for Colorado…
Helton
Barmes
Holliday
Atkins
Hawpe
Baker
Iannetta
Francis
Taveras
I’d do the same thing with Taveras…he’s had some trouble getting on base this year, but Helton sure hasn’t, in spite of his drop-off in power. If Taveras gets on, with Helton right behind him, followed by a red-hot Barmes and then Holliday/Atkins/Hawpe, it’s really like having an additional leadoff hitter. But Helton really is great at working counts and getting on base, so I like him being the actual lead-off man.
But…again…entirely arbitraty.

YEAH CUDDLES!!
Leads off the 2nd ripping a triple…very nice.

O-kay....
Red Dawg pops one up, Howie loops a can of corn to short, Everett gets an IBB and Slowey pops up another easy one. That’s one helluva waste, gentlemen.

actually
Slowey almost had a bloop hit….Baker robbed him on a nice running catch. Slowey almost paid off there!

Nope
Thee weak flys and they’re out. Tough call on whether to send him or not from third. But with all the outs we’ve given up at home of late, I appreciate Ulger erring on the side of caution.

Why is Monroe hitting 3rd?
I don’t get it. Cuddy’s a much better hitter. That much should be obvious.

Infuriating
I can understand Ullger’s aggressiveness with this hitting display with RISP.

Seriously!!!
Two wasted triples?
It hurts me. On the inside.

Barmes goes yard, shoots it to left.
Hansell. He’s so hot right now. Hansell.

Is anyone watching the Boston/Milwaukee game?
It’s a slugfest. Ortiz has hit two homers, it’s 11-6 in the 7th.

Atta boy Delmon!
Another XBH…a double this time, leading off the sixth. Let’s bring him in, offense!!

JUSTIN MORNEAU HOMERS (8) ON FLY BALL TO RIGHT FIELD
Twins 2, Rockies 1.
Let’s get this one!

Helton
Oh well, the Twins will just have to win this homerun derby.

Long 6th here for Slowey...
only 1 run so far, but Hawpe just walked on 10 pitches, and Atkins is still on 2nd. One more out Kevin, let’s do it.

nvm
Baker singles, Slowey’s lifted for Guerrier.

Same old same old
It’s like he throws 95 pitches and his arm goes dead.

Slowey can't finish
Isn’t this the 2nd time that he has given back the lead after just getting it?
The Twins should still have the lead if they would have scored in the first 3 innings

Wow, big inning going on here...
Howie Clark, 2B
Adam Everett, GO (Clark to 3rd)
Kubel, BB (Gomez PR)

GUT PUNCH.
Harris screams one to Barmes, who lobs it to first, catching Gomez between 1st and 2nd.
That one hurts.

Most frustrating game...
of the season? When we talk about “doing the little things,” shouldn’t that include scoring a guy from third base with less than two outs?
by wcooley on May 18, 2008 5:16 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Rincon in trouble.
2nd and 3rd, one out on a sac bunt.
Completely lost Quintanilla after getting ahead 0-2, walked him. Taveras pulls a Gomez and reaches on a bunt single. Barmes bunts them over.
by Jesse on May 18, 2008 5:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
5-2, Rockies.
Helton drives in Quintanilla and Taveras. Holliday to 3rd.
Sigh.

Maybe...
...if they can stop the bleeding. They can use my tournaquette.
by Jesse on May 18, 2008 5:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Is that how you spell tournaquette?
How ‘bout a splint, boys?
by Jesse on May 18, 2008 5:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think I'm ready for the Twins to get blown out
All these games were the Twins have every chance to win but don’t is getting really frustrating

Taveras is fast.
Stealing 2nd and 3rd…that’s impressive.
by Jesse on May 18, 2008 5:55 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Too bad our fast guy hasn't helped us today
Does anyone know if Gomez will start the next game?
by caluofmn on May 18, 2008 5:57 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i hope so.
hand was a bit rough after friday’s acrobatics, but i’m hoping most of 2 days off is enough rest. i’m hoping to see him back tomorrow, but i can’t say for sure.

is it time to give Cuddyer a day off?
At least Young keeps getting singles, Cuddyer has really struggled the last few games.
by caluofmn on May 18, 2008 6:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
that's game.
clark works a long count, but grounds out to 2nd. Rockies win, 6-2.

This team seems flat and lifelesss without Go Go
