brendan harris as DH?

why not craig monroe?

well, at least harris isn’t playing defense…

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 7:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would guess

I would guess that Monroe is the reserve outfielder, just in case

by DedicatedFollowerOfFashion on May 19, 2008 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

you're right

i thought of that after i commented….

CF

I would rather see Young in CF over Cuddyer. Cuddyer has a strong arm and plays the baggy pretty well. But he doesnt track balls well at all.

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 7:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i'd be nervous about either one.

but i get nervous when craigsy is out there, too. hopefully a game here and a game there won’t make too much of a difference, but no matter who you are, you always want to limit how many innings you’re giving a guy in a field at a premium defensive position, especially when they don’t have a lot of experience there.

CASILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO WAY!! Alexi shoots one into right field for a 3-run bomb!!

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 9:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

have we

found a new power hitter? haha…great shot by Casilla though.

Bonser

Bonser is working a good start aside from two early solo dingers.

But the Rangers are mounting a rally here in the seventh. Bonser is only 75 pitches in. THis should be a chance for Bonser too…

Ug, Bonser just got a DP ball but Boof rushed the throw and Everett dropped it. Bases load 1 out now.

Come on Boof…

this game looks one hard breath

away from getting entirely out of hand. one run deficit right now in the top of the ninth, but two on and only one out. let’s go crain!!!

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 10:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

for my hockey-watching friends...

i’m up at 4am, watching pittsburgh and philadelphia…pittsburgh is up 2-0.

is this live? or are hockey playoffs done? if they’re not done, do hockey playoffs REALLY go on THIS LONG?

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 10:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

aha!

a little research helps me out. i predict the penguins will win this game 6-0, and take the series…

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 10:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

who else plays IF

if the twins tie it, but can’t win it? everett and casilla are both out, and clark is the only IF left on the bench. hey mauer, play third! haha…

Morneau

has the opportunity to win this game with either a bloop or a blast…personally I hope it is the blast

by 33MorneauMVP on May 19, 2008 11:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually, it would’ve been a great pitch to turn on and pull a fly ball. It’s not like he needs a freaking dinger there. Stupid opposite field mentality. That was a brutal inside-out swing.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ugh

We needed to win it right there

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Good god.

Well, those were horrid ABs. Nice showing by our number 4 and 5 hitters.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed.

definitely killer.

but at least we live to see another inning. so….who plays short, and who plays second?

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

alright extras

predictions for defense

Reddog at 3B and Clark at 2B

harris the dh?

without an injury, can they lift the DH? put harris in on D and remove monroe from the lineup for the pitcher?

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

DP

I guess its Clark and Harris

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nice 4-6-3. Clark looked confident on it.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

sweet.

so where is the pitcher hitting? in the leadoff hole where casilla and monroe were hitting?

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

just answered my own question.

nathan is listed in the leadoff hole.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Correct. When you make that move, you lose the DH. Bold decision frankly.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

nope.

the pitcher will have to hit. bottom of the 10th:

gomez
young
lamb
clark
nathan

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Livan

If it came down to it I guess we could pinch hit with Hernandez

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

crain was on in the 10th...

but i could handle nathan for 2 innings here. he can go that long.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

my bad

i lied. it was nathan.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why not leave nathan in?

Ron Gardenhire is trying hard not to win this one.

http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/

by Aaron Fix on May 19, 2008 11:20 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i just got home

so did nathan bat or did we pinch hit for him?

http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/

by Aaron Fix on May 19, 2008 11:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he didn't get up.

bottom of the 11th: clark, rincon, harris

unless they use livan to pinch-hit for rincon. just to make even less sense.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i still can't believe

Nathan was lifted after FIVE PITCHES. in a game like this.

someone explain it to me, please. draw me a picture.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

(*^#($^#!@!^#

HE BROUGHT IN A NEW PITCHER BEFORE THE PITCHER’S SPOT CAME UP IN THE ORDER? WHAT THE HELL IS HIS PLAN?

http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/

by Aaron Fix on May 19, 2008 11:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

not sure it matters too much

since we’re out of position players. the bench is empty.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow, put Rincon back on the juice.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

this is unbelievable

let’s see if we can use 10 pitchers tonight

http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/

by Aaron Fix on May 19, 2008 11:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

c'mon korecky!!!

just keep it tied man. you can go all night.

in fact, i think you may not have a choice…

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Come on kid, hit the freaking zone.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Atta boy! Nicely done there. Now one more please.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why does livan have batting gloves on?

who is going to pitch if we take out korecky?

http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/

by Aaron Fix on May 19, 2008 11:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hmm, looks like he might have a chance to replace Neshek this year.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

somebody needs to step up.

rincon is shaky, and i like crain in the role he has now.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He should be available...

pitched 2 innings on the 13th, then 2/3 of an inning a couple days ago.

But after this performance, knowing Gardenhire, he’ll prefer to keep Bass for tomorrow night, so we have at least one fresh arm (apart from Nathan, since 5 pitches don’t count). Who knows.

Twins pitchers hitting at the Dome

Last time: July 6, 2007 – Redmond left the game hurt, and Matt Garza had to bat twice.

Before that: Ray Fontenot, August 24, 1986, in a game a lot like this one.

by Jon Marthaler on May 19, 2008 11:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i'll say it again....let's get a walk-off right here.

yes, that’s right. by howie clark, journeyman.

do it.

Pinch hit for Mauer

Does Gardy pinch hit Livan for Mauer to further cripple the team

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i don't mind that he gave up the DH

because SOMEONE had to play defense. i’m just confused by not extending nathan for an inning. in a game like this, your best relief pitcher, and one of the best in the game, should be able to give you more than 5 pitches.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

3 to 1 odds on a 4-6-3

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

my sideburn-stroking worked for mauer...

...so now i’m going to go put on my canadian mountie uniform for justin.

let’s go, eh.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wow, another great AB for Justin. Jesus Christ. Now it’s time for Cuddyer to ground out weakly

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wow

Frustrating to watch the Twins not execute

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

especially the cleanup hitter.

he’d been hot recently, too. damn.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Justin

Two at bats with the winning run on 3rd with 1 out. Hit a freaking fly ball!

by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

so frustrating

he apparently looked fooled, like he was waiting for something else. but with a 2-2 count and the bases loaded, they aren’t going to risk going down 3-2. should have been looking fastball, dude. eh.

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nice to see the pitcher and weak hitting middle infielder get hits then have the heart of the order look like fricking children playing a man’s game. Sit Cuddyer down.

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

well....

...it is an off-shoot of rounders….

by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s a very solid point.

Mike just said it best, “korecky should punch them all in the face.”

by nathaneide on May 19, 2008 11:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

this is all my fault.

if i’d just stop watching, the twins would win.

so i’m going to bed. it’s 5-friggin-am.

goodnight, Twinkie Town. now go get ‘em!!

Ok, now why not let Korecky hit again?? God, this makes no sense.

by nathaneide on May 20, 2008 12:10 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

That was Korecky’s first hit – and first at-bat – since 2002 at the University of Michigan.

Ha! Nevermind. Didn’t even need to get back to him.

Good for Clark and Korecky.

Ummm Kool-Aid

with vodka, alrgh arlgh arlgh

I don’t mind the negativity, but not four minutes after the last play of a 13-inning win.

That’s like your spouse doing her nails two seconds after you dismount. At least let me enjoy the afterglow.

Cuddyer, Mr. Clutch

0 for 6 with 9 men left on base, now hitting .226

Time to pull something different out of your hat Michael.

by Old Twins Cap on May 20, 2008 12:42 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This was

probably a really frustrating game to watch at home or listen to… but it was really fun to be there.

Korecky

Since no one else has really stepped up since Neshek went down, is it time to start looking Korecky’s way for more high pressure situations ie: tie games in the 9th or slim leads in the 8th?
