brendan harris as DH?
why not craig monroe?
well, at least harris isn’t playing defense…
by Jesse on May 19, 2008 7:16 PM EDT 0 recs
I would guess
I would guess that Monroe is the reserve outfielder, just in case

CF
I would rather see Young in CF over Cuddyer. Cuddyer has a strong arm and plays the baggy pretty well. But he doesnt track balls well at all.

i'd be nervous about either one.
but i get nervous when craigsy is out there, too. hopefully a game here and a game there won’t make too much of a difference, but no matter who you are, you always want to limit how many innings you’re giving a guy in a field at a premium defensive position, especially when they don’t have a lot of experience there.

Bonser
Bonser is working a good start aside from two early solo dingers.
But the Rangers are mounting a rally here in the seventh. Bonser is only 75 pitches in. THis should be a chance for Bonser too…
Ug, Bonser just got a DP ball but Boof rushed the throw and Everett dropped it. Bases load 1 out now.
Come on Boof…

this game looks one hard breath
away from getting entirely out of hand. one run deficit right now in the top of the ninth, but two on and only one out. let’s go crain!!!

for my hockey-watching friends...
i’m up at 4am, watching pittsburgh and philadelphia…pittsburgh is up 2-0.
is this live? or are hockey playoffs done? if they’re not done, do hockey playoffs REALLY go on THIS LONG?
by Jesse on May 19, 2008 10:52 PM EDT 0 recs
aha!
a little research helps me out. i predict the penguins will win this game 6-0, and take the series…

who else plays IF
if the twins tie it, but can’t win it? everett and casilla are both out, and clark is the only IF left on the bench. hey mauer, play third! haha…

Morneau
has the opportunity to win this game with either a bloop or a blast…personally I hope it is the blast

Actually, it would’ve been a great pitch to turn on and pull a fly ball. It’s not like he needs a freaking dinger there. Stupid opposite field mentality. That was a brutal inside-out swing.

Good god.
Well, those were horrid ABs. Nice showing by our number 4 and 5 hitters.
by neide on May 19, 2008 11:02 PM EDT 0 recs
agreed.
definitely killer.
but at least we live to see another inning. so….who plays short, and who plays second?

harris the dh?
without an injury, can they lift the DH? put harris in on D and remove monroe from the lineup for the pitcher?
by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:05 PM EDT 0 recs
sweet.
so where is the pitcher hitting? in the leadoff hole where casilla and monroe were hitting?

nathan is listed in the leadoff hole.

Correct. When you make that move, you lose the DH. Bold decision frankly.

Livan
If it came down to it I guess we could pinch hit with Hernandez
by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:10 PM EDT 0 recs
crain was on in the 10th...
but i could handle nathan for 2 innings here. he can go that long.

why not leave nathan in?
Ron Gardenhire is trying hard not to win this one.

i just got home
so did nathan bat or did we pinch hit for him?
http://noblingblings.blogspot.com/
by Aaron Fix on May 19, 2008 11:23 PM EDT 0 recs
he didn't get up.
bottom of the 11th: clark, rincon, harris
unless they use livan to pinch-hit for rincon. just to make even less sense.

i still can't believe
Nathan was lifted after FIVE PITCHES. in a game like this.
someone explain it to me, please. draw me a picture.

HE BROUGHT IN A NEW PITCHER BEFORE THE PITCHER’S SPOT CAME UP IN THE ORDER? WHAT THE HELL IS HIS PLAN?

not sure it matters too much
since we’re out of position players. the bench is empty.

c'mon korecky!!!
just keep it tied man. you can go all night.
in fact, i think you may not have a choice…
by Jesse on May 19, 2008 11:30 PM EDT 0 recs
why does livan have batting gloves on?
who is going to pitch if we take out korecky?

Hmm, looks like he might have a chance to replace Neshek this year.
by neide on May 19, 2008 11:35 PM EDT 0 recs
somebody needs to step up.
rincon is shaky, and i like crain in the role he has now.

He should be available...
pitched 2 innings on the 13th, then 2/3 of an inning a couple days ago.
But after this performance, knowing Gardenhire, he’ll prefer to keep Bass for tomorrow night, so we have at least one fresh arm (apart from Nathan, since 5 pitches don’t count). Who knows.

Twins pitchers hitting at the Dome
Last time: July 6, 2007 – Redmond left the game hurt, and Matt Garza had to bat twice.
Before that: Ray Fontenot, August 24, 1986, in a game a lot like this one.
by Jon Marthaler on May 19, 2008 11:38 PM EDT 0 recs
i'll say it again....let's get a walk-off right here.
yes, that’s right. by howie clark, journeyman.
do it.

Pinch hit for Mauer
Does Gardy pinch hit Livan for Mauer to further cripple the team
by .mnqwerd on May 19, 2008 11:42 PM EDT 0 recs
i don't mind that he gave up the DH
because SOMEONE had to play defense. i’m just confused by not extending nathan for an inning. in a game like this, your best relief pitcher, and one of the best in the game, should be able to give you more than 5 pitches.
