Went a little widget happy here...

...but hey, THEY’RE BACK. So I’m happy. Liking the lineup widget, especially.

The pitcher pictures and stat briefs were something I’m just playing with, it might be too much. But it’s fun.

GO TWINS!!

I think I need to discuss

Carlos Gomez and his lack of OBP more often on this site. Because every time I do he slaps me in the face, steals a base, scores a run. Usually in that order, although the slap in the face may land at any point.

Livandez

tosses a meatball over the middle of the plate. Ordonez launches it into the stratosphere. 1-1.

Does Gomez have two walks?

Am I reading that correctly?

Cubans are crafty

I still remember being amazed watching Cuba vs. DR in the world baseball classic. The Cuban starter went to 3 balls with nearly every batter, and consistently threw breaking balls out of the zone on hitters’ counts. When he left the game he had thrown more balls than strikes (those strikes include all the balls he got them to swing at) and he managed to not walk a single batter.

Yahoo:

MINNESOTA’S CARLOS GOMEZ LEFT THE GAME IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH INNING AFTER BEING HIT IN THE HEAD FROM A THROW BY DETROIT CATCHER IVAN RODRIGUEZ WHILE STEALING SECOND BASE.

Yikes

I’m hoping it’s just precautionary. i’m just watching on GameDay tonight, so I wasn’t able to see what happened.

Be well, Carlos!

It was pretty scary

He lay motionless for like 3-4 minutes before being driven off the field. He did get up under his own power though.

Polanco doubles

with two away. LET’S GO LIVAN!

by Jesse on May 2, 2008 10:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Sweet

Sheff grounds out. That has to be all for Livan tonight.

102 pitches, 62 strikes, 7 innings, 8 hits, one run (HR), 4 strikeouts and two free passes. Not bad considering that imposing Tiger batting order. Well done, sir Livandez. I tip my cap to you.

Time for bed.

It’s 3am.

If the Twins lose after I go to sleep…that’s it. I’ll be cursed (pronounced CURS-ed).

Goodnight, TT.

Gomez hit by throw

There was a question about what happened to Gomez. He was hit in the head on a throw from Rodriguez while sliding into second on a stolen base. He supposedly will be fine.

Twins won the game in the second.

After Ordonez homers, Cabrera doubles, Guillen singles and Renteria walks.

At this point, bases loaded nobody out, Pudge walks up. Remember that Livan got shelled last outing in Texas. It sure seemed like things were about to get really ugly.

Instead Pudge pops out to right field and Jones grounds into a double play. LIvan gets out of it with just the lead-off homer.

It’s the only inning I was able to listen to last night… but it was all I needed to know.

It was huge.

I thought it was all over at that point…but the other way.
