Before the game, I told Joe, 'Just put down the fingers and I'll throw what you call'.

I like it.
The man was in a groove last night. Glad he just trusted the catcher and didn’t over-think. Between his control and Joe’s calling, the Rangers had no answers.
Both teams needed a good showing from their starter so they could rest their bullpens… Perkins gave it to the Twins while Mathis just couldn’t do it. Of course, that’s a tall order for a first start in the bigs.
On the radio pre-show, Dazzle shared an excerpt from his clubhouse interview with Perkins. He asked Glen what the expectations were for him after such a whirlwind, bullpen-draining game like Monday night. Glen answered sincerely, “nine-inning complete game.” He didn’t go the entire distance, mainly because he was handed such a good third-inning lead, but I really like the confidence.

Not exactly
He didn’t go the entire distance, mainly because he was handed such a good third-inning lead,
Perkins failed to go the distance because he hit Milton Bradley with a pitch to begin the 7th (0-2 count, I think) then proceeded to fall apart to the point that a batter after he left the game Brian Bass was one served-up home run away from making it a 9-7 ballgame.
Perkins and the rest of these guys need to start getting THROUGH the 7th, not TO the 7th.
