After seeing Bonser's latest implosion I've gotta wonder if the Twins are considering moving him to the bullpen. He's out of options apparently so sending him to AAA to clear his head isn't really an option. I realize he started the season strong but since has been pretty bad even if it usually is pegged on one bad inning. One bad inning still loses the game pretty often last I checked. I know maybe Bonser hasn't been as bad as his ERA would suggest but still, it's been a pretty rough month or so for him.
With the troubles of the bullpen you'd think it could use a strong arm and I know there was talk of him going to the bullpen in the offseason with our abundance of starters. Some were even saying he could potentially be a replacement for Nathan in the future. I don't know what the ETA on Scott Baker is but it would make a lot of sense to make that move when Baker comes back up. Especially when you look at the performance of our other 4 current starters, every single one of them is outperforming him over the past few weeks and hopefully we'll have to make room for Liriano sooner than later if he keeps improving like he has been.
The way I see it Boof can improve his speed, avoid the big inning (because he'll only be pitching one or two) and help an area of weakness right now with a move to the pen .
What does everyone else think? Good move? Bad move?
