Mr. Jones
The Tigers today designated for assignment our old friend Jacque Jones. So Jones is another in a long line of ex-Twins who have had less than stellar careers once out of Minnesota. I wish him well and have to assume that someone will take a chance on him.
What is it about the ex-Twins out of Minnesota and their decline? Sure JC is doing well in Philly and Loshe might have a second life with the Cardinals but those seem to be the exception. I hope Bartlett does well in Tampa, that goes for Garza too but it seems like there is a good chance that won't happen. I haven't forgotten AJ either. I'm guessing out of the recent (2000-today) Twins he has had the best career outside of Minnesota by far. Funny that he would be the guy to pull that off.
Good luck Messir Jacque strap and happy trails.

Funny that I DID FORGET Ortiz
I really did. I think it might be b/c he was all potential and no fact to me when he was a Twin. I didn’t miss him when he left b/c I had no idea he would become the player he is now.
And I don’t much care for the guy, he seems to enjoy ripping on the Twins when he gets a chance.

Well..
He may be putting down our hometown organization… but is it really “ripping” when he’s telling the truth?

Maybe, maybe not
but for example him putting his 2cents in on the Santana situation this off season. He hasn’t been a Twin in how many years? Why does he feel like he needs to speak about that to the media?
Some of his statements might be true but in a situation like that, it seems he just wanted to go out of his way to rip the Twins.

I agree
I understand Papi’s desire to make his feelings heard by others. HOWEVER, I think at a certain point if you state a fact repeatedly it comes off as a grudge/being holier than thou.

Fair enough.
He should just answer every question with a monotone “2004.” Then stare directly at the interviewer in silence. Seriously, how many times will anyone have the balls to have a a follow-up?

Bartlett
After taking September of last year and most of this April off (he showed up, did nothing at the plate) he has started to hit. He also had the FA of a A ball player on a dimly lit field to start this season, but he hasn’t kicked one away now for quite some time. He’s pretty much settled in as a singles hitter, though. His SA isn’t much more than his BA.

I kinda feel bad for Jones, but I’m sure he’ll find a bench spot somewhere.

A tip of the Le JacqStrap
Jacque was the only Twins’ offense in the best baseball game I ever saw at the Dome, and I have attended every post-season game played there. Santana vs. Freddie Garcia and the White Sox with more than 30,000 fans at a playoff-atmosphere August game in 2005. Santana, and Nathan, shut out the Sox on three hits, all off Santana. Garcia no-hit the Twins until Jacque put a charge into it for a home run to lead off the bottom of the 8th. That was the Twins’ offense in a 1-0 game: One hit. Four hits in the game. One of Chicago’s three was a lead-off single (followed by a SB), and another was a third-inning double, all that from the feared Pablo Ozuna, who probably still hasn’t had 1,000 big-league PAs but certainly must have made a few million bucks playing the game.

My favorite game as well
I remember saying “one hanging slider please”. And boom. Game over.

Hey
Hey, I was at that one too. That’s one of my two or three favorite Twins games of all time.
