Game 31: Twins @ White Sox
Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox, May 6, 2008 8:11 PM EDT
I've inserted the lineup widget, but it was done before the lineups were announced. I'm not sure if these widgets automatically update or not--so if when this posts the lineups are blank, if one of the other admins wants to jump in and re-post the lineup widget (under insert stats), that would be great. I'll be in bed when this game kicks off.
WIN TWINS!!

Lineups
Are in! Pretty standard for the Twins – with the exception of Everett instead of Punto at shortstop, it’s the same lineup that faced Floyd in his last start.

Not a good first inning
Top: Twins 0-2 with runners in scoring position, both Morneau and Cuddyer with routine ground balls.
Bottom: A walk, two hits, two runs, and Carlos Quentin scoring from first on a single thanks to two errors. Gomez’s throw from center hit Quentin as he slid into third, and Quentin was out by ten feet at home, but Mauer dropped Blackburn’s relay throw. Only Gomez was credited with an error, but Mauer deserved one as well.
Dana Demuth squeezing both pitchers. Could be a four-hour game tonight.

ARRRGH!!!
Swisher never toughed the bag!!! He only stepped on Blackburn’s heel! That should have been a double play!
Grrrr…. Now the Bitch Sox have a third run because of it.

Mauer to the Meople
Joey Bland breaks up Gavin Floyd’s no-hitter in the ninth inning with a one-out double.
Mauer reached base three times, walking twice and doubling.

Well
Well done.

The last time....
Note: I was all set to post this at the end of the game, but then Floyd’s no-hitter went bye-bye.
The last time….
THE TWINS WERE NO-HIT
May 17, 1998 – New York Yankees 4, Twins 0 – David Wells’ famed perfect game at Yankee Stadium.
Other pitchers to no-hit the Twins: Catfish Hunter (Oakland, 5-8-68); Vida Blue (Oakland, 9-21-1970); Nolan Ryan (9-28-1974).
THE TWINS WERE NO-HIT BUT SCORED A RUN
Never happened before
A MAJOR-LEAGUE PITCHER THREW A NO-HITTER BUT ALLOWED A RUN
September 8, 1993 – Darryl Kile no-hit the Mets, but Jeff McKnight – the only New York baserunner of the game – walked in the fourth inning, then scored after a wild pitch and a throwing error.
THE TWINS WERE NO-HIT BY THE WHITE SOX
Well, the last time it happened, the Twins were the Senators. It was August 20, 1957, the second game of a Senators-Sox doubleheader. Bob Keegan out-hit the Senators by himself, going 1-4 at the plate and driving in a run while no-hitting the Sox.
A WHITE SOX PITCHER THREW A NO-HITTER
On April 18, 2007, Mark Buehrle no-hit the Texas Rangers. Floyd’s is the 17th in White Sox history.
A MAJOR-LEAGUE PITCHER THREW A NO-HITTER
Boston’s Clay Buchholz no-hit the Orioles last September 1, walking three and striking out nine.

On the good side...
We all knew the Twins would come back to earth.. I’m glad it wasn’t due to a no-hitter…

Widget
Did the lineup widget update automatically or did someone re-post it?

Well, unless someone fesses up…
