Broom

Has anyone actually brought a broom to a game?

by wcooley on Jun 19, 2008 1:11 PM EDT reply actions

Good Start

for Perk…2 IP, 22 pitches (13 strikes, 9 balls), 6 consecutive outs.

Kubel

with his 3rd Triple on the year!!! Kubel really likes getting triples this year I think. Twins now have 22 triples on the year which lead the American League. 38 RBI for Kubel!

Young

Another 1 and done, doesn’t this kid have learning curve?

Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.

In his first AB

I don’t mind swinging at the first pitch, but not in my first at-bat. Don’t you want to see the pitcher’s delivery at least once? Maddening.

Last Twins game I went to

I think it was Baltimore, Young had 4 at bats, saw 4 pitches and made 5 outs. I’ve got a lot of confidence in the kid’s long term abilities, but he’s going to have to start showing some positive signs soon. His numbers since like A ball I think, have shown a concerning decline.

Buscher

had a nice little line drive over the half way drawn in infield. That is what you need to do in those situations is just hit one out of the reach of the infielders when they are drawn in. Good Job by Buscher!

Gomez

had a nice little hit there to LF…

0-13

Casilla must stop that streak. Maybe he gets a single here and a RBI!

Has anybody noticed that our leadoff man has 25 RBI on the year? Castillo usually had that in a year and Gomez already has that in June! 25 RBI for a leadoff man is pretty good!

Positve Sign

Hill has 51 pitches through 2 innings

Buscher

It looks like Buscher is seeing the ball really well today…he has two hits.

And as soon as I say that, Harris gets a double! I wonder what Harris stats at home are compared to away…I will have to check that.

who

here thinks that the Metrodome is a triple hitting ballpark? I certainly didnt think so…but apparently I am wrong. Cuddy and Kubel both have triples in this ballgame.

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

To be fair...

... Elijah Dukes and Wily Mo Pena played both triples like they were hand grenades. On Cuddyer’s, Pena sort of jogged over to the gap, then lazed the ball back in; on Kubel’s, Dukes ran over there, missed the ball, then had to chase it for fifty feet off the wall.

(Side note: The Video portion of MLB Gameday is AWESOME.)

yeah

I saw those….but still, who would think that the Twins would hold the AL lead over the Angels and Mariners? I certainly didnt.

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Very true.

I would have predicted Kubel to have negative 3 triples this year.

Color Man

Anyone know what the story is with Morris being in the booth instead of Gladden? It’s a little early for Sturgis.

Gladden

Bert and Dick said Gladden went home for a family emergency or something last night.

Metrodome doesn’t have corners to make it a good triple-hitting ballpark…

by joeiscool12 on Jun 19, 2008 2:30 PM EDT reply actions

and

somehow the Twins manage to lead the AL in triples with almost or more than half of their triples coming at the dome.

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe it is our excellent speed?

I mean look at Kubel… if that guy isn’t aerodynamic, I don’t know what is.

by joeiscool12 on Jun 19, 2008 2:35 PM EDT reply actions

haha

yeah….Kubel does have a aerodynamic form about him! haha

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 2:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Casilla and Young

are the only players without hits so far for the Twins….Kubel gets a double. Cuddyer and Kubel both have triples and doubles. That is a nice 1-2 punch for the Twins in the lower half of the batting order.

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 3:10 PM EDT reply actions

Breslow

is on to complete the sweep. He has been very good for the Twins. In 7 2/3 innings, Breslow has only given up 3 hits and 0 runs. Breslow has been a very pleasant surprise and dependable left-hander.

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 3:42 PM EDT reply actions

Casilla and Young

have 0-fers today vs Washington. Mauer, Buscher, Kubel, Cuddyer and Harris all have two hits on the day.

by BCTwins on Jun 19, 2008 3:43 PM EDT reply actions

Nice Sweep! I am very happy about it...

...but we do have to be honest; the Nationals are probably the worst team the Twins have played, and I think that the Twins again played somewhat sloppy baseball. They got away with it against the Nationals, but against the Sox, Tribe and Tigers, that kind of sloppiness tends to result in Ls.
