rangers fans want Justin Morneau in all-star game

a lot of us over at lonestarball have talked about voting for Justin Morneau over Kevin Youkillis for a couple reasons, the main one being that he deserves it.  the 2nd reason?  the red sox/yankee monopoly on the all star game.

we have suggested a sort of agreement with twins fans.  you see, ian kinsler is very deserving to be an all star.  he is currently 2nd to dustin pedroia.

i'm sure most fans who aren't in the northeast would love to end the yankee/red sox stronghold on the all star game.  i'm also sure lots of rangers/twins fans go straight ticket for their team.  that isn't any better than what THEY do.  not asking for you to vote for an undeserving player, and i'm not suggesting that the rangers fans would vote for an undeserving player. just wanting all of us, offsprings of different washington senators franchises to work together to make sure the red sox fans do not overwhelm the all star team with players that don't necessarily deserve to be there.

youkilis= .304/.376/.540, 13 HR, 47 RBI, 139 OPS +

justin morneau = .305/.362/.485,  11 HR, 59 RBI, 131 OPS+

pedroia = .282/.328/.408, 6 HR, 8 SB, 32 RBI, 94 OPS+

kinsler = .305/.362/.502, 12 HR, 19 SB, 47 RBI, 131 OPS+

why the focus on morneau?  he's only 270,000 back

why the focus on kinsler? he's only 166,000 back

what do you say?

i'm too lazy to vote a lot

but i already voted for Morneau and Kinsler. Kinsler definitely deserves to be there more than Pedroia.

was considering your proposition

until I read your sign off, then I figured I just can’t cut a deal…

but seriously Kinsler is deserving regardless of your politics – or your decision to use a political sign off on a sports site.

Not so sure that Morneau is more deserving than Youkilis.

I love Morneau

But Youk is better in some ways.. Gold Glove (yeah, I knowbad indicator of defense) and the higher OPS+ kinda turn me off.

I've already been voting this way

but if letting Ranger fans know this means more votes for Justin then, sure done.

Oddly enough...

I’m pretty sure all 25 of my votes went to Kinsler and Morneau aynways.

Done like dinner

All my votes for 2B went to Kinsler as well. Good luck to him.

Kinsler

deserves his spot hands down.

I voted

Mauer, Morneau, Kinsler, and Young in the infield. I voted for Hamilton in the outfield. So I figure I have your deal covered in spades.

Hamilton

Hamilton is a no brainer. 76 RBI is 76 games played this year.

What?!?!?

I know we’re twins fans, but we’re also baseball fans. There is no way that Morneau deserves the spot over Youkilis. Youkilis has better offensive numbers (slightly). More importantly, he is an unbelievable firstbaseman, and has also played 3B and outfield this year, in a pinch. I’ll vote for the best player, but in this case I think it is Youkilis.

I definitely support Kinsler over Pedroia, and Mauer over Veritek. Kinsler’s been great for my fantasy team.

It's really close

I would say their numbers are close enough to say they’re equally deserving, offensively and defensively. I voted for Morneau because he’s the one guy in this line-up without whom the whole thing collapses. I don’t think you say that about Youkalis. He’s got a better supporting cast.

good point

i meant to point that out. Mauer instead of Varitek is way more important than Morneau over Youk, since Youk has been one of the best players in MLB offensively and defensively this year.
