You might be right.

Mauer hasn’t had a day off in a long time, and it looks like Kubel is getting the green light ahead of Young in NL parks this series. This is probably a likely lineup, unless Gardenhire wants to ride the offensive success and play Mauer again. But I don’t see it. If there are any changes, it’d be Young for Kubel, since he hasn’t started in a couple days.

I dont

think Gardy will be pulling either Buscher or Harris in this game in favor of Punto (although with Gardy who knows). Harris has clouted the ball out 2 consecutive days and Buscher is just too hot right now to be touched.

I can see Young starting although since it is a right hander today I think it is more likely that Kubs gets the playing time. Young will return when we return to Minneapolis.

Close!

7-Harris, SS
8-Buscher, 3B

Full marks for personnel though.

Garza

He’s been brilliant at times this year but he’s still shown bouts of inconsistency. Check out the Rays vs Marlins game going on right now. He’s got a no-hitter going through 6 innings and only 1 walk.

Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

Garza finishes it off

Throws a great 1 hitter, unfortunately the 1 hit was a homerun.

Damn

Too bad he gave up the homer but still, good for him! Hopefully he can build off it and keep going strong the rest of the season. I’d love for the Rays to win the AL East!

right on

right on Jesse.
Ive been following the Rays for a couple years now (thank you MLB Extra Innings!) that team has a whole mess of confidence right now, its just great to see.
Its weird to see full crowds at the Trop

I was reading up on that today.

Hopefully it doesn’t freeze up as much as the 2-D one has all season long. But still, it does look pretty cool.

I just wish

that they wouldn’t say what happened (outs recorded, runs score, no outs) before they tell you the complete outcome. I’d prefer to see the pitch come in, then find out if it was a strike/ball/inplay, then what happened.

Ideally

It would look like a video game, in real time. That’s not as far fetched as it seems. Relative to that, the interface is crude. I hate the whole, In play, no outs thing and then you have to wait a couple of minutes to see whether it was a single or a home run. But it’s still better than watching online box scores roll over. And I do like the pitch location and type identifier, especially when the game is not on TV. I’m spoiled by Herb, who used to identify every pitch and location. Neither Gordo nor Danny do that.

Redmond batting third

I just don’t buy into not moving guys in the lineup around a bit. I think if a guy is hitting good, he’s hitting good and sliding him around won’t make a bit of difference. I say this because Redmond is batting 3rd again when we’ve got a SS and a 3B who have been hitting extremely well and both have decent plate discipline. It’s not a big deal but it just seems silly.

Now watch him have a huge game and make me looks stupid. I think I could take the ridicule, GO REDDOG!!!

Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?

by halfchest on Jun 26, 2008 3:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Redmond

I don’t mind him hitting 3rd when a lefty is on the mound, but I’d definitely be sliding Kubel into the 3rd spot today. Gardy’s being Gardy and trying not to mess too much with what has been a pretty successful lineup lately.

Banks

This Banks kid doesn’t throw very hard. I’m assuming his success is due mostly to the league knowing nothing about him. I somebody crunches one of these sub-90 fastballs soon.

Seems like it.

Gameday has him working almost exclusively in fastball/changeup, but he’s tossed in a few breaking balls as well. Gameday even called on a knuckleball, but I don’t believe that’s accurate.

Eight pitches

Banks has them.

Knuckleball could very well have been accurate.
