Our friends over on Chicago's South Side can't figure out why the Twins won't go away.

What to worry about

In June:

Tigers 17-8
Twins 16-10
Chicago 15-10

Top White Sox fan concerns:

1) Tigers
2) White Sox
3) Twins, who are .474 on the road, and have more road than home games left to play.

It just feels right having it fall to the Twins and White Sox

I know there is still half a season to play but if division race continues to fall btwn the White Sox and Twins I’d be happy. And if Chicago once again makes the mistake of counting the Twins out b/c they have the better team on paper so be it. Normally they learn the hard way that divsions are won or lost on the field, not on paper.

That was some cute cherry picking of facts

Granted we all know Buscher and Casilla are outperforming their means, but if Sox fans want to believe that

- Jermaine Dye is still a 40 HR hitter
- AJ is still a .300 hitter
- Jose Contreras is still Jose Contreras of 2005
- John Danks can outrun his minor league track record
- Gavin Floyd can outrun his minor league track record
- Carlos Quentin can outrun his minor league power numbers

then yes, I’d think the Central was in the bag for the Sox too if all those if’s remained constant.

Both of these teams are overperforming at the moment and comparing both teams against AL teams outside the division (Twins 12-18, Sox 13-18), the hubris on this column’s cherry picking is pretty delightful.

Homer-happy Metrodome?

I have to say I get a chuckle every time I see somebody write this, as our South-side friends have done. The Metrodome hasn’t really been ‘homer-happy’ since the AC was put in in 1983, and hasn’t even been a hitter-friendly park since 2006 (check Baseballreference.com for the Metrodome park factors since 2006—you’ll be surprised, I’m sure).

Feel free to post

your feature from the June GameDay as well, David. Here, or at your blog. Or both.

I’d prefer both, because selfishly I know it was a good piece.
