"All I can say is that I'm doing my job," said Santana. "Other than that, there's nothing else I can do. I can't go out there and do the things that my teammates have to do."

It would be nice if there was a link
where we could read the article and the context.

thanks
Having reviewed the article and perused Johan’s stats so far this year, I just can’t find any better evidence as to why the “win-loss” record of a pitcher is so useless. Johan is 7-7, Livan Hernandez is 8-5.
One person, several posts back insinuated that Livan might be as good, or better than, Johan because Hernandez’ team wins more often when he is on the mound than Santana’s team does when Santana is on the mound.
I suppose if you are going to factor in salary, the argument isn’t so ridiculous, but Santana has been very good this year for the Mets and it certainly isn’t his fault that his teammates can’t score more than 2-3 runs.

It's not fair but
I would imagine that playing for a New York team and getting paid all that money means that just doing your job is not enough. I don’t think it’s fair but I think that is what Mets fans want.
They were hoping for a Cy-Young, lead the league in strikeouts, lead the team to the playoffs player.
