Yet another game off for Mauer??
Is something wrong with him? Is he nursing something?
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 6:41 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think
it is just because Redmond has done so well vs. Buehrle…Reddog is hitting .476 vs Buehrle.

That's a split I'd be paying zero attention to.
We’re not talking about just some starting catcher, we’re talking about Joe Mauer. One of the league’s best hitters. There’s no way I’m sitting him in place of an aging backup just because he has a nice split versus the opposing starter.
But sadly, I’m not filling in the lineup card.

and
let me just say that this “aging backup” is the best backup catcher in the Major Leagues! I would rather have Reddog on the club backing up Mauer than Pudge or Posada or Martinez.

I would rather have any of those three.
I personally like Redmond more than any of those three. But they’re all better players.

Having said that,
there isn’t anything wrong with Redmond as a backup. He’s a good one. But there’s no reason to use him in place of Mauer just because of a split.

that
inning was not quick and quiet for Hernandez…about a 20 min inning.

Monroe works a 2-out walk.
Move it along, Harris…

Oops, he was on deck...
didn’t matter anyway, Young grounds out.

Rough way to start the inning...
Konerko triples to lead it off. Is that an automatic run?
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 8:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Wow.
Big innings in this series for the Sox, and the long ball is in full effect.
Stop giving up home runs, stop allowing so many base runners to score. Stop allowing so many base runners, the home runs don’t hurt so much. Either way, something needs to be done here…chunks of runs kill much faster than a string of minimal damage.

Buerle's picture on gameday
looks like a zombie on some kind bud.
by montanatwinsfan on Jun 7, 2008 8:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It's not just gameday.
It’s everywhere. Even on TV, when he’s actually a live and moving form, I have a hard time believing he’s anything other than a vampire. Or some other form of living dead.

Trouble
here…Crede up again with 2 runners on base…

well
this is new…when did Livan get traded to the ChiSox?
Apparently Livan Hernandez is batting here for Alexei Ramirez….and is this a clone of Livan on the mound?
by 33MorneauMVP on Jun 7, 2008 8:39 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
oh
sorry…Livan must have just got traded to the ChiSox and Runcon took over on the mound there….sheesh. We should trade Livan now while he still has a little trade value.
by 33MorneauMVP on Jun 7, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is just way too painful.
Maybe we need to bring up another starting pitcher. To “hide” Livan Hernandez. Just like we’re “hiding” Juan Rincon.
Who needs position players when you don’t want to send replacement-level pitchers through waivers for fear of losing them?
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 8:43 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Livandez through four innings:
4 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 1 BB, 2 K
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 8:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Still no offense for the Twins
WHY CAN’T I LOOK AWAY?!?
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 8:50 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Gomez
must like hitting Buehrle…he almost jacked another homer there. 2-3 vs Buehrle and 6-8 vs. Buehrle career.

I know, it looked good for a second there.
These big innings for the Sox are tough to watch, though. Jebus.
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
long
innings kill…Twins are hacking at first pitches right now and the Sox are waiting for their perfect pitch and then they jump on it. I think Vavra needs to figure out a new technique…or else we could fire him and hire Molitor or Carew.
by 33MorneauMVP on Jun 7, 2008 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Vavra's got little or nothing to do with it.
The guys in the box need to choose better pitches to swing at, if they swing at all. But in spite of that, I’m worried about the pitching more than the hitting right now.

it
looks as though Rincon is going to be placed on waivers this next week. He has a pretty good attitude about it too.

where did you read that?
i haven’t read much baseball stuff the last two days.
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
no
problemo…I also hope to see Hernandez trade talks resume. We need to get him out of here before he loses his value (if he has any). We could call up Mulvey/Liriano/Duensing to take his place.
by 33MorneauMVP on Jun 7, 2008 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's a situation I'm looking forward to.
It all depends on how contending teams look for starting pitching—something maybe I can take a look at over the next few days. Even if he has value he won’t kick back much, but he will be worth something to the right team. It would help if he’d start getting results more similar to his first few rather than his last three or four. He’s just been killed.

awesome.
scoreless fifth for the boofster…i’ll take it!

#1
homer for Delmon! Now, all the Twins starters have homers.
by 33MorneauMVP on Jun 7, 2008 9:14 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Starters homers
Morneau – 10
Kubel – 6 (starter in my opinion)
Gomez – 5
Casilla – 3
Cuddyer – 3
Mauer – 2
Harris – 2
Lamb – 1
Others with Homers: Monroe – 5
Delmon – 1

DEL-MON DEL-MON DEL-MON!!!
As mbennett would say: “Look, a pointless Torii homer!”
But at this point I’m just happy to see one from Young period. Well done sir, keep it going…
by Jesse on Jun 7, 2008 9:16 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Glad
to see Delmon do it…it is pointless now unless we could do that 5 run two out rally that we did vs. KC but I doubt it. I hope to see more of this boppers from Delmon and hope to see more gap power! Go Delmon.

3 innings of scoreless relief for Boof!
3 hits, 1 strikeout, 1 walk.

leadership
after 2 awful loses to the Bitch Sox who is going to step up?
who is going into the tunnel to destroy a chair w/ his bat?
who is going to take out the catcher at a play at home?
Maybe it’s b/c I hate losing to Chicago but I think after these 2 games someone needs to step up and rally the troops.
Then again if the Twins win today and tomorrow they will split the series and in Aug. most people won’t even remember how bad these 2 games were.
