Derby
I don’t understand why they still do this. It takes flippin 6 hours to watch on TV. Some hitters end up messing up their swings and slump the second half. I could live without it.

They need to update it.
It takes too long. I don’t have the link, but Jayson Stark over at ESPN.com (I know, I know) talks about this exact problem. He also has some interesting ideas on how to spruce up All-Star week, and make it a big deal for the game of baseball.

Two things
A.) Jayson Stark is great.
B.) I enjoy the home run derby more than the All-Star game.

Real Answer
Vavra is actually doing it, according to the article. While we’re suggesting Twins pitchers, Bass has been kind of a homer machine lately, too.
I want to see a pitcher homerun derby – CC vs. Micah Owings would be fun. [tangent] I use to have the absolutely awful Triple Play 2000 (maybe 2001) on the PC, which made it incredibly easy to hit the ball out in the homerun derby – I once tried it with Greg Maddux and made 20 homers in one round. [/tangent]
