I read in the comments
of LEN III’s blog that the Twins called a press conference for yesterday…and then cancelled it. Can anyone confirm this, or have anymore specifics?

Unofficial 2nd half begins and....
No change in mentality for lineup, Gomez remains lead-off. Surprised Harris is starting over Punto though. That sprain more serious than first thought?
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

Punto
will not play this whole weekend. He had a cortizone shot. Why move Gomez? I know people on here are getting disgusted with his lack of ability to get on base, but that is where Gardy says he will be in the future so he might as well get used to trying to put the ball in play and get on base. I dont see a need to move him.

We need to move him
because he’s hurting the team by leading off. Putting someone in his spot who gets on base more regularly sets up the bigger bats with more run producing opportunities.
Gomez very well could turn into a great leadoff guy in the future, but that’s no reason to keep him there now. Just like you wouldn’t keep Liriano in the starting rotation back in April, just because you knew he’d be better eventually.

Bombs away
That’s a pretty scary lineup for Texas, unfortunately for Perkins none of the regulars have huge splits against left-handers. One thing that does help is Hamilton home (.356/.405/.678) versus Hamilton road (.269/.332/.437). That actually deflates all his hype quite a bit actually…
Watch out for Davis, he’s a monster. Has 29 HR’s between 3 levels now and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any.
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.

Texas has
an incredible offense. If they had a front-line starter and a couple of extra relief pitchers to rely on, they’d be a favorite in October. Right now I think they just qualify as, overall, a decent team.
But that offense is incredible.

I just wanted to let all know Dark Knight is really as good as people are saying. If they make one more like this one, it maybe my favorite movie trilogy ever… no really.
Oh and the Watchmen trailer was amazing…
Looking forward to a great 2nd Half

Bale was great, Ledger was the Joker, just chaos and fun, and Harvey Dent… well what a scene when he shows his Two-Face

Twins scoreless.

I'm intrigued
to watch Blalock play this weekend. Apparently the Twins have had some level of interest in him, but his injury history raises some conerns for me.
by Jesse on Jul 18, 2008 8:31 PM EDT 0 recs
Blalock walks,
but Perkins still cruises through the second.
Due up: Morneau, Kubel, Young

I was
hoping for a HR Derby.
Watch Hamilton homer twice and the Twins still win. It’d be about par for the course for him.

Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn’t stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month.

Anytime someone is elected president in the United States, they must ask permission from Chuck Norris to live in the White House. The reason for this is because Chuck Norris had won every Federal, State, and Local election since 1777. He just allows others to run the country in his place.

any news
about how far this deal with Seattle is going? I havent heard anything but then again I have only looked at MLBtraderumors so I dont know if some other site has published something.

As far as I know,
the Twins talked to Seattle but that’s been it. I don’t know if any offers have been made or if any conversation is taking place at all.

From what i heard
Lavelle E Neal mentioned something on PA and Dubay on KFAN the other day that the Twins have offered the Mariners, Lamb, Buscher and either Brian Duensing or Kevin Mulvey for Beltre, no word from seattles end.

who knows
though? If Seattle wants to unload that contract they may except that offer (keep fingers crossed). Personally I would offer say a Lamb, Mulvey/Duensing, Dennys Reyes, +1

Reyes has
been invaluable to this team so far, and without any surefire arms in Rochester, trading a useable asset out of the ‘pen is a very bad idea.
Duensing is struggling this year, he can’t hold that much interest…Mulvey’s done better but still allows a lot of baserunners.
The Twins will need to offer a legitimate prospect for Beltre.

but what
about Mariano Gomez as our new lefty to come to the pen. I think Reyes is gone after this year (very nice showing for the Twins!) so we might as well get something for him and Gomez is eating up AAA.

That's not
a bad solution…I’ve certainly heard worse ideas.
I’d rather test Gomez in September with extended rosters though. Having said that, if anyone is ready there it might be him.

hey if
he can get through this inning that is GREAT!! Our bullpen is well rested and for Perk to go 6 innings is decent. 7 = Crain 8 = Guerrier 9 = Nathan (if needed)

I like Breslow 7th, Guerrier 8th, Nathan 9th…Gotta give Breslow some time on the mound, he has the Lowest ERA on the team at 2.15, he deserves to be handed the ball.

Twins offense isnt awake tonight. we have 6 hits through 5 innings, but they have been scattered (aside from Buscher’s nice hit).

1&3
for the Rangers. Byrd is next. I think this is Perk’s last inning no matter what happens. He is up to 92 pitches and our bullpen is certainly well rested.

and Perk
does a GREAT job through 6 and probably his final inning! Good Show Perk!!! Way to lead off the second half!!! Texas has a tough lineup too especially that top 4 of Kinsler, Young, Hamilton, and Bradley. GOOD SHOW, wot wot!!!
