Hopefully Livan can pitch well tonight, Go Twinkies!

by Tony_O on Jul 19, 2008 6:37 PM EDT reply actions

Just one good start

to moderately increase his trade value…just something for the Twins to say “Look, here’s what he’s capable of on occasion.” That will make me happy.

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 6:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Scouting Report on Matt Harrison:

22 years old, 631.1 minor league innings. 3.45 ERA, just 38 innings at AAA, 6.37 K/9, 9.00 H/9, 2.05 BB/9, 0.66 HR/9, 1.23 WHIP overall.

He doesn’t strike out an intimidating number of hitters, but he gets a lot of ground balls. He may very well be an effective pitcher. We’ll get a front-row view of exactly how effective he can be in just a few minutes!

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 6:42 PM EDT reply actions

I don't like that at all.

The last thing the Twins need is another crappy, aging middle infielder.

Although it would make room for Liriano, which is probably the ultimate goal of such a move.

So yeah, I guess…..I’m okay with that!

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 7:03 PM EDT up reply actions

If its to make room for Liriano, i would just Trade Livan for a Hit and miss Prospect

by Tony_O on Jul 19, 2008 7:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Um...Betemit is 26

and has played more games at 3B than all other positions combined. Making him neither aging, nor a middle infielder.

He’s actually been moved a lot, which makes one wonder what the problem is, but overall he’s been a league average hitter, more or less, and actually hit 32 homers in just over 600 ABs over the 2006-2007 seasons.

I’d take him, though I doubt that the Twins would make that deal—I think they are too risk averse to trade Livan.

by Eric in Madison on Jul 19, 2008 7:08 PM EDT up reply actions

That's fair enough for me...

...I just took a cursory glance, I admit it. I saw all the lines of stats, most of which must have been from the same season with different orgs or different levels, and assumed he’d just been around awhile. I also saw that he’d played a lot of MI early in his career.

Caught me out. 2 points, Eric in Madison.

Ugh

God those Vest Jerseys need to go

by Tony_O on Jul 19, 2008 7:13 PM EDT reply actions

Livan is

8-1 at home in those vests. Though I hate them, I’ll take ‘em.

Nice Inning

For Livan, Uppin that Trade Value

by Joshs Thoughts on Jul 19, 2008 7:21 PM EDT reply actions

Ha...

...so is that like a Once-In-A-Season kind of deal?

That’s not fair, I know…couldn’t help it, sorry.

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

It's the second time

this season he has faced a 3-0 count. Both times he has walked.

Hahaha...

...so the Royals aren’t out of it yet!

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I do wish

that Monroe would produce a bit more often. It’d be nice to have a bat on the bench that could be reliable for something other than a big homer a couple of times a year.

Yes you need headphones, if you dont want feedback and the Audio Quality is actually fairly decent for computer, its nothing too special though

by Tony_O on Jul 19, 2008 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Is It just ME

or instead of Take Me out to the ballgame the Twins should steal Bostons Idea and Play Sweet Caroline during the 7th inning Stretch.

by Tony_O on Jul 19, 2008 7:50 PM EDT reply actions

Just you

Screw anything related to the Red Sox.

by ubelmann on Jul 19, 2008 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions

How about another song instead?

Like “Come On Eileen”?

It’s dirty, but only 3% of the people would know it. It’s also still a great singalong.

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions

There are lots of good songs....

Just don’t choose the one that links us to the Red Sox. I’d much, much, much rather start our own tradition than be completely unoriginal and leech off someone else’s tradition.

by ubelmann on Jul 19, 2008 8:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I can get on board with that.

Weezer. Pork and Beans.

My song of the moment.

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 8:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd love that idea...

...that song is a fantastic singalong. If you don’t get up and sing to that song, you’re dead.

by Jesse on Jul 19, 2008 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Or how about another Neil Diamond Song, like Rock Me Gently

by Tony_O on Jul 19, 2008 8:03 PM EDT up reply actions

This is a pet peeve

But I hate it when fans steal something that obviously belongs to another team’s stadium/fans. ‘Sweet Caroline’ belongs to Boston. The Wave should stay in Seattle. And, my biggest pet peeve of all, throwing home runs back onto the field belongs to Wrigley. And I do mean BELONGS to Wrigley. Anyone who throws a home run back who’s not currently sitting in Wrigley field should be sued for copyright infringement.

That is my rant for the day.

by Neil on Jul 19, 2008 10:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Personally,

I don’t care where you are…throwing back a home run ball is stupid. It’s a souvenier! Who cares who hit it, what are the chances you’d ever catch a home run ball in your entire LIFE?

Good inning for the Twins!

A pair of runs, Twins lead 3-2.

Now Livan just needs to hold this lead for the two or three innings he’ll be asked to pitch.

yes

It was probably the weakest double ever, though. He hit a high-chopper over the 3B who was in playing for the bunt. Then he hustled to 2nd when the left fielder threw lazily into 3rd.

as Livan Retired 12 men straight before giving up a base hit

Livan gets thru six!

I’ll take that for now. I’m not sure I’d run him out there for another inning, but it probably wouldn’t hurt the Twins in the big picture either with a 4-run lead. Hopefully.
