"This is LaVelle’s news not mine, but he just called in and told one of the editors that he saw the lineup card for tonight’s game. Carlos Gomez has been dropped to the No. 9 spot in the batting order and Denard Span is leading off."

Confirmed

Confirmed. It is the typical lineup but with Span and Gomez swapped. Span led off the game with a nice base hit up the middle, advancing to second on an error by center fielder Melky Cabrera.

I’m sure Gomez’s meltdown on Sunday played a part in this. I’m glad this finally happened, it should be better for everyone involved.

By the way

By the way, big kudos to Denard Span. Not a lot of people believed in him recently, myself included. He’s really made good on his insistence he was a major league ready player and become just that. Congratulations to the season that young man is having.

Question is what move do the Twins make to bring him up?

Release or trade Livan and/or Boof
Send Bass to AAA
Trade Reyes
Does a position player get sent down and the Twins go with a 6 man rotation?

I don’t know what the Twins need to do but yes, please get Liriano up here

Bass

The Twins can’t just send him to AAA – he’s out of options, same as Boof. They have to put him through waivers first, so there’s a decent chance they’d lose him.

Who would want Bass?

I doubt he would be picked up…

And if we lose him, so what?

Well...

That’s how the Twins got him (actually, he may have been a Rule 5 pick, but that’s a pretty similar situation), so obviously the Twins wanted him in the first place.

Your second question is really the important one. I’m with you that it’s no big deal to lose Bass, but the Twins have kept him around so far despite (for example) Korecky being available in AAA, so it appears that they don’t want to just give him away.
