That is a ridiculous line through 2 innings
Maybe he figures if he can get 20 strikeouts in a game they’ll finally bring him up.
I hope they do but I’m still worried about his overall innings and how many starts we can really count on him for once he gets up here.

I would Be All For
Sending Gomez to Triple A, Bad Plate Discipline, just doesnt look like hes ready for the Big Leagues, that Away you can call up Liriano, Move Livan or Blackburn to Long Relief, DFA Bass, Send down Gomez, Move Span to Center, When Cuddyer Comes off the DL, DFA Lamb.

I'd be shocked
to see them send Gomez down. I’m excited to see how he responds to being in the 9 hole. Maybe he’ll relax a bit and won’t feel quite as pressured. We can only hope he turns it around

He'd have to fall off the face of the batting earth
for them to send him down. As long as he keeps up solid defensive play and stays above the mendoza line he is our starting centerfielder come hell or high water.

but it sucks when he runs into his own bunts
for an out…
If it wasn’t for the Twins actually fighting for the division I think they would send him down but they are in the race so gotta keep his glove and hope for the best w/ his bat

Yeah,
when he ran into his own (non-sacrifice) bunt there in the 3rd, with all of their fielders (and their mothers) waiting for him to try and bunt for a single it was impossible not to laugh in frustration.

just tuned in
VERY excited to see Gomez in the nine hole! For whatever reason Directtv has the game on so I am watching it.
Wow Span is fast!

Watched Gardenhire eat sunflower seeds.
He threw most of them in his mouth, but it wasn’t a pretty sight.

could Gomez lose the CF job to Span next year?
When Cuddyer comes back I’d like to see Gomez and Span do some platooning in CF.
I could see how Carlos can lose the job.
by caluofmn on Jul 22, 2008 7:56 PM EDT 0 recs
It would be next year at the earliest
Span would have to keep playing great like he has this year and Gomez would have to keep tanking it. I really hope that’s not the case but I wouldn’t mind a bit of a platoon between them. Give Span some starts against righties and let him give Cuddy and Young days off as well playing 3 to 4 days a week.

Slowey walks Giambi and is alraedy looking a little tired here in the 4th after about 67 pitches.

NY guys were talking how sneaky fast his is.
gets out of the inning
he is pitching well enough where it will be another shame if he doesn’t get the W

So thats what Busher looks like.
On his MLB picture he looks like he is fat, but on tv here he just looks big and strong.

Hey
Gomez gets a hit. What is he now 2 hits for his last 28?
by montanatwinsfan on Jul 22, 2008 8:33 PM EDT 0 recs
or
4 in his last 43. But that was a heads up PURE SPEED base stealing by Gomez for a run.
Gotta hand that one to him!
by montanatwinsfan on Jul 22, 2008 8:35 PM EDT 0 recs
Punto, Gomez, Casilla and Span batting 8-2. That really does have the ability to revive the pirahnas.

Well that's glass half full
thinking with Kubel up bases loaded and he just misses hitting into the double play…

Hopefully we can get back on track in Cleveland. New York is looking like a lost cause. It’s frustrating too because the Tigers are gaining and a Sox lead means we could drop back…

Also, how about when a guy named Brett Gardner hits we just pipe one instead of walking him.

To be honest..
I don’t really care about the score at this point. I am just happy that Gomez is batting ninth, and doing well, and Span is leading off, and doing great.
Add that to Liriano’s awesome outing, and I’m downright happy.
