The wind was blowing out!?!?!? I'm surprised that he didn't complain about the Twins stealing signs and putting them on the Jumbotron? He is also the guy who would say even though the Twins won the division we (White Sox) are the better team. If I remember correctly he even said that he was happy to not go to the playoffs b/c the Twins always lose in the 1st round. Here's a Batgirl reference. I like that they complain in the story of losing Thomas and Maglio, hmmm kinda like the Twins this year losing Santana and Hunter? The AP game recap made it clear that Buehrle was joking. Just because he’s not a favorite of Twins fans doesn’t mean that we have to interpret everything he says as malicious.

Was he joking regarding the Texas Rangers?
I don’t know how the AP could make it clear he was joking. Just b/c Dave Campbell wrote he’s joking does that make it true?
What I know is he has a history of making stupid comments and I’m sure he’d like to explain it away as a joke. but sometimes it’s too late to take it back. He didn’t say his comments in Texas were a joke so it is pretty easy for me to believe he meant what he said. Morse Code using lights… Twins turning up the AC, if this guy believed one, I can see how he’d believe the other.
Not that this is a big deal it’s just one more log for the fire when it comes to this guy for me.

I hope the Twins get another W tonight.

The AP article said this:

Also, note this in the article you quoted (boldface added):

It seems to me like a pretty obvious joke, and I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I guess I just don't like him
and given that there is the urban myth that the Twins do cheat by blowing the fans out

It pisses me off and I think it’s pretty tasteless on his part to add to the myth and then say it is a joke. It adds to the myth and when people hear it enough times they start to question whether it is truly happening. It’s pretty irresponsible and brings to question the creditability of the organization. I think it’s a punk thing to do and he has a habit of doing this, probably b/c everyone just writes it off as a joke.
I’d rather see him take it out on a space heater, which is a more honest response to a poor performance than taking a shot at the Twins rep and making punk excuses why he got hit.
Again, just b/c he was smirking doesn’t mean he didn’t mean it, his comments about the Rangers to me proves this guy is capable of thinking of some stupid things.

I love how teams always think this…
I was at the Texas-Twins game last Sunday and as the Twins were batting the American flag (or maybe it’s the other one in left) was blowing in towards home from the “fans”. I think that just goes to show that they don’t blow them out.

In addition
to some of the stupid things Buehrle has said over the years (some when he was serious, even though this one sounds like it was a joke), he’s just done really well against us. That makes strongly disliking him even easier. If he were a punching bag that was trash talking, it’d just be laughable. But because he’s usually solid, stupid shit just stokes the fires.

Every Fan Counts
Anyone have a link to the commercial the Twins were running as part of the “Every Fan Counts” series where they showed an opposing player in the Dome (no idea why, but I want to say Carlos Lee) hitting a bomb, starting his trot, then it cuts to a fan in the upper deck with one of those tiny hand fans, then it cuts to Torii making a leaping catch against the baggy, followed by a cut back to Lee (I’ll go with him) throwing his helmet down in disbelief and then closing with “Every Fan Counts”.
