Minor League Report...notice
Am on vacation and will be enroute much of Saturday. My weekly report will likely be posted sometime on Sunday.
Ft. Myers and Elizabethton were both undefeated this week, that is until Elizabethton got shut out last night. For a team that normally scores in double figures, getting shut out had to be a shock. Other than reviewing box scores I am somewhat limited this week, so my regular report will be much shorter.
Have a wonderful July 4th everyone.

Luke Hughes
Continues to be a really interesting character. Last night he had 1 hit in 4 at bats, the hit being another HR. That makes 15 on the year, and yet he continues to hit lead off. He’s pegged at 6 ft, 190 lbs so he’s not exactly a big kid. I’m wondering if he just has a swing that generates a lot of loft. Something a bit like Ryan Braun who has a good deal of power from a similar build as Hughes. Also it should be noted that while he’s no slouch versus right-handed pitchers he’s absolutely raking versus lefties to the tune of .453/.521/.844. Any chance he wants to help the big club the next couple of games… 3 lefties in 5 days I think. Kidding, but it’s nice to know there’s hope somebody in our system is capable of being a stud versus left-handers.
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

Erik Lis
I was checking up on his progress and it looks like he’s cooled of a bit, but still doing fairly well. I had read that he was good at situational hitting but talk about the tale of two different players man….
