Lee's had a great season.
The offense will need to be sharp and take advantage of hittable pitches this afternoon.
Is there a reason Buscher’s out of the starting lineup two days in a row?
I like Punto getting shots at short. I trust him in the field…and he’s doing better at the plate, too. Keep it up, Nicky!

With this lineup
I’d be doing things much differently:
Casilla
Span
Redmond
Morneau
Young
Monroe
Punto
Harris
Gomez

For anyone
who’s missed it…Punto’s quietly having a good season for a utility IF:
80 AB’s, 288/356/425, 9 BB, 12 K
Line drives are up, ground balls are still around 50%, and he’s hitting .438 with RISP.

I like Punto as a person,
and now that he’s putting up respectable numbers, I’m starting to like him as a player. Last year was inexcusable though… if he can go back to 2005 stats it’d be nice (he’s basically putting up the same numbers with quite a bit more slugging)

Kubel
Isn’t it time he got another shot against a lefty? I know this is the defensive aliment but it’s bad to see Kubel taking multiple days off when he’s been so hot lately.
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.
Really gives a new definition to living vicariously through other people, don't it?

LaVelle
Lavelle at his Strib blog says Mauer probably asked for the day off.
I know he has good numbers against Lee, but its probably not a bad thing to sit him the Twins do not have a day off until the ASB, and they are the road all this coming week. Its not like Redmond is a terrible player

Speaking of Livan....
you know, i honestly wouldnt mind to keep him here as a #3 pitcher behind Liriano and Baker or Blackburn, Put Perkins in the Pen with Bass, Breslow, Reyes, Guerrier, Crain and Nathan, Get Rid of Boof and have the Rotation look something like this… Liriano, Baker, Hernandez, Blackburn, Slowey.

Lee
Gonna need our A game today. Then again I think we’ve had our A game for a few weeks now. We beat Peavy, Webb, Sheets, and Maddux over the last few weeks. Let’s add Lee to that list. Go Twins

Strikezone
Just jumped in this inning, but from the last couple batters, it seems like there is a pretty wide strikezone today.
At least that’s what I see on Gameday. Anyone actually watching?

Great inning...
...the scoring that inning really typifies where our successes have come from offensively. Singles, a couple of timely walks, some speed ont the bases and a little luck.
I’ll take it.

Flipping between this and the White Sox-A's game
I heard the Sox announcer talking about how the Twins will not lose, and I think they gave a great quote that could be the moniker of the Twins year:
Refuse to lose, the Minnesota Twins 2008 campaign.
This to me seems perfect.

I noticed something interesting while checking some stats on MLB.com.
For all the talk about the Twins playing poorly on the road, The White Sox and Twins have almost identical Home/Road splits:
Twins:
Home 31-18
Road 18-20
Sox:
Home 31-13
Road 19-24

There was a Scare with Liriano Last night in Rochesters game vs Buffalo
The Bisons tested Liriano in the fifth, when Chris Gimenez doubled off the left field wall to open the inning for Buffalo’s first hit. . Liriano struck out Morgan Ensberg and Jason Cooper, followed by a brief scare: a stop in play, and manager Stan Cliburn and trainer Tony Leo sprinting out to the mound to check on Liriano after he threw a pitch to Jason Tyner. Liriano appeared to have slipped on the mound, but waved off staff and quickly got Tyner to ground out, ending the inning.
