Game 90: Twins @ Red Sox
Scott Baker's brilliant performance last night was wasted on what I felt was a bad decision from the moment I saw who was coming out of the bullpen for the eighth inning. Is that a run-on sentence? Anyway, where was I...oh yeah: Brian Bass?!?
Coco Crisp and Jason Varitek are out of the lineup tonight for Nick Blackburn, who's going to need more than zero runs of support from his offense in order to log a victory. The Minnesota lineup looks exactly the same except for Brendan Harris hitting seventh and playing third base for Brian Buscher.
WIN TWINS!!!

I guess we should be happy
They’re getting on base and reeking havoc. Casilla and Mauer got nothing but fastballs once there was speed on 1st.
Gardenhire's major league career: Banjo hitting, futility infielder who couldn't lick it.
Rick Anderson's major league career: Strikethrower who never made it happen with his sub 90's fastball.

I wonder if at any time, the thought of Nathan ever occurred to Gardenhire. As in, “Hey, Manny Ramirez is hitting with one out in the eigth, representing the tying run. Perhaps I should bring in my best pitcher, Joe Nathan,” or maybe “Hey, the game is now tied and the go ahead run is on second base, perhaps I’ll bring in my best pitcher, Joe Nathan.”
Gardenhire’s lack of creativity is depressing.

What is to blame on Gardenhire?
I thought he made all the right moves. Two bloops and a blast tied it. Gomez made the right move trying to take away an extra base hit from Youk, and Moss got a good swing on Guerrier.
My only questions are: 1) If Breslow is injured, why not disable him? He hasn’t pitched in over a week has he? 2) Where is Crain? Guerrier has pitched in four of five games. Crain faced two batters against the Tigers. That is the last I recall from him.
