Twins to trade baggie for a piece of the rock
No more baggie. I like the stone wall idea a lot.

sounds great
picture and story make it sound like there’s going to be some very odd plays off that wall. What I don’t get is will the first 10f eet or so have padding? If not, look out there maybe some players bouncing off that rock and onto the DL quick. Imagine the Gomez hit against the Cleveland wall… now picture that wall made of rock…
see what I mean?

I'm sure there
will be some form of protection for the players. It’d be madness to expect people to want to play anything against that kind of a wall.

Padding
It will exist.
But it doesn’t exist in Wrigley.

Maybe not an injury risk
Unless I’m reading this wrong, I don’t know that this is a field-level wall (emphasis mine):
The porch, with several rows of seating, will hang out over the field. The facade bearing the rough-cut stone, about 90 feet long and several feet high, will be in play.
That implies to me that this will stick out from a second deck or something, not that it will be part of the rest of the outfield wall. I haven’t seen any pictures or anything, so I could be way off base here.

Yup, when you read the article it sounds like something other than
a replacement for the baggy but the title of the article is awfully misleading then.
maybe it’s just poor reporting on the StarTribs part?
