rotation for white sox series
I'm reading now that Gardenhire will not alter the rotation for the Sox series, and the scheduled starters will stay in the order they are now -- Baker, Perkins, then Blackburn. I understand why they can't get Liriano into that series since he's scheduled to start Sunday. But with the off day on Monday the 22nd, why can't they skip Perkins? Wouldn't you rather matchup with the Sox with:
Baker (sept 23)
Blackburn (sept 24)
Slowey (sept 25)
That would all be on regular rest. Liriano could then start on regular rest on Friday, insert Perkins on Saturday, and then Baker on Sunday. I know they don't want back to back lefties, but I think it's important to keep Perkins the hell away from the White Sox the way he is pitching right now.

As a Cubs fan,
I am getting totally frustrated with the Twins not taking charge and stringing some wins together in their pursuit of the White Sox. The Sox are a pitching-poor team that plays horrible defense and makes bone-headed baserunning errors seemingly every other game.
Not that it directly impacts the Cubs if the Sox make the playoffs; I just don’t want to see it happen (not that you do, either).
JUST WIN!!! They’ll lose their share of their remaining games, believe me. Take advantage of it, for Christ’s sake!

too bad you're frustrated
but I assure you it’s nothing compared to the frustration felt by Twins fans. Now go back to enjoying the best Cubs team in recent memory.

Yeah it has been a good year.
It’s more annoying for me than anything else. I’m sure Brewer’s fans feel similarly to you guys.
I’m not trolling, mind you; I’m rooting for you guys! Every night I check the Twins’ score to see if they’ve made up any ground on the Sux. Last night, Sux lose 4-2 & the first thing I did was check the Twins’ score and was like DAMMIT! C’MON, MINNESOTA!

The Sux winning and the Twins not making up ground;
that’s what’s annoying – I should have been clearer. The Cubs winning is not annoying; not to me, at least…

I'd skip Perkins as well
Baker – Blackburn – Slowey is about the best we could do against Chicago. As much as I’d like to see Liriano there, it wouldn’t make sense to hold him out of the last game at Tampa Bay, as we’re going to need him there too.
That would also set us up for Liriano (4 days rest), Perkins (8) and Baker (4) to finish out the season against KC. I don’t know about you, but at this point, I’d trade a start by Perkins for an extra start by Baker any day of the week. It would also set us up for Slowey if we end up in a one game playoff, and Liriano to start a playoff series if we get that far…

I hope
That Gardenhire is playing coy with this. It doesn’t make sense to say right now that they are going to skip Perkins, as it might damage Perkins’ confidence going into his next start. It sounded like what Gardenhire was really talking about was that they can’t get Liriano into that series. But he’s mentioned the fact that they have an off day on Monday to play with.
I have to think that over the weekend it will come out that they looked at it again and they will skip Perkins, especially if he has another bad outing. They can always chalk it up to the high number of innings he’s thrown so far, Gardenhire has been harping on that with respect to Perkins recently.

Good point
Yep. I have to remind myself that we’re dealing with young players here. Confidence means so much…

They'll get it right
And Perkins will be skipped. He’s running out of gas. All his curve ball does is spin in its trajectory like a planet in its orbit.
Let’s hope that the games still matter at that point.
It’s on the offense to keep them in games. That Lewis kid did not have as great as stuff as the Twins hitters, especially Span, made him look.

Bonser
It might also be a decent idea to insert Bonser into Perkins’ rotation spot the final week for the possible Saturday start against KC. Might make sense especially if Perkins bombs again.

Pressure
Maybe, but I’d be hard pressed to put Bonser (or Humber) in a start two games from the finish line if we’re still in it. If we’re out of it, or if we’ve clinched… pitch Humber, see what he’s got.

I don't know
Bonser’s handled pennant race pressure before in 2006 as a starter. It would only be one start against KC at home. His peripherals are actually better than Perkins’ anyway, and they could avoid KC seeing Liriano/Perkins back to back. Hopefully those games will be meaningful and this discussion won’t become moot. If Perkins is really out of gas I’d like to shut him down as a starter completely.

I hear you
We’d have to get him ready to make a start, considering Boof’s been pitching an inning at a time in the bullpen…
Agree that if Perkins is out of gas, we should shut him down. A lot will depend on that opener against Tampa Bay.

If there was any doubt
Tonight’s start against the Rays had to clinch it. If Perkins pitches against the Sox next week, I’ll eat my hat. They have to skip him.

not skip him necessarily
replace most definitely though!

Skip him
This should be a no brainer. Use Monday’s off day to our advantage, Blackburn can start on normal rest for Perkins. Baker-Blackburn-Slowey against Chicago, then Liriano-TBD-Baker against KC. At this point, I’d probably pitch Humber on the second to last day, but it will depend on what happens the seven games in between now and then…
