The Only thing i will say about tonights game is
That Tonight’s Performance By Perkins Squashed all the Talk that he should be in the Running for Rookie of the Year.

Did somebody seriously think that Perkins was a ROY candidate?
That’s pretty ridiculous. They guy’s fielding independent metrics were WAY below average, even excluding what happened today.

Dick & Bert started off the telecast
by listing ROY candidates:
Armondo Gallaraga
Evan Longoria
David Murphy
Glen Perkins
IMO, he’s on that list solely because of W-L record. Shouldn’t be, though I’m glad he’s been an effective #5 starter overall.

turning point of the game?
gardy is an idiot of a manager and has cost us alot of wins this year with his poor handling of the bullpen, and really gardy bring in boof bonser in a meaningful game? you dipshit, no one else in the world wouldve brought him in there
Longo=ROY. Friedman=Executive of the year. Maddon=Manager of the year. Gabe Gross= clutch.

Who else was he bringing in?
Boof is our “start extender” guy right now, brought in when a starter goes less than six. Before last night, he was throwing great for the last month or so. Seemed tight, walking the leadoff guy. Did you want him to bring in Crain? Guerrier? Guardado?

Yes and no
Gardenhire is an idiot and he HAS cost us wins this year, he’s old-fashioned and incapable of accountability on his own….
….but our bullpen is pretty bad relatively speaking. I am not sure another manager or even the intelligent people on this site could get that much more out of it.
(Please Note: I’ve believed for years that the Twins Bloggers would make a better manager than Gardy.)

I posted this over at Seth's
Since it’s mine, I can quote it here:
Gardy’s signature weakness is not trusting guys until they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can do it. But you can never prove that you can do it beyond a shadow of a doubt until you’re given the opportunities to prove it. Breslow’s finally been given the opportunities, if only because Gardy had no other choice.
It’s maddening to watch Gardy manage this bullpen. First he stuck with Rincon in tough situations for about 10 games after it was clear to just about everyone else who follows this team that he was done. Then he turned to Bass for seven games in those situations with much the same result. Then he split those cases between Crain and Guerrier for about 10 games, overworking both with horrible results. Then Bonser for a few. And now, finally, it looks like he’ll turn to Breslow. That’s nearly three months of failure before he actually trusts the guy who’s been consistently good.
That’s about 30 games of mismanagement when we had chances to win games but lost because of bullpen failures. This race would not even be close if Gardy had managed his bullpen appropriately this year.

+1
You said it. It’s been a rotating door for the 8th inning after Guerrier started struggling. It’s really felt like college football polls. Neshek goes down, Rincon steps in because he was second in line. Then Guerrier steps in because he was third, then Crain as #4. Didn’t matter who was putting up the best numbers.

3 Starts Go to....
Denard Span …soley for the steal of third base, and for the Great Assist Getting a Jays’ baserunner at Third.
Joe Mauer …continues to sting the Ball to All fields….was merely just short on getting 2 more hit tonight.
Alex Rios…Or Bautista…..2 Breakout games tonight from both of them,
Bautista is supposed to be a low average -meduim pop hitter…but he didn’t show it tonight.

Three Stars
- * * Denard Span – another solid game. Bailed Perkins out with the perfect throw to third. He doesn’t make that throw, Perkins probably gets the loss.
- * Joe Mauer – Agree, stung the ball all night
- Dennys Reyes – Big strikeout to get out of the 7th. At the time, it was huge.
Honorable Mention: Delmon Young – Seemed like he was really taking aggressive swings up there. None of the weak slap to the 2B like we’ve seen so much this year.
Turning Point – Back to back HR given up by Perkins. He’d been playing with fire all night.
Perkins’ performance – 3 out of 10. 10H and a BB in 5 IP? I guess he could have pitched fewer innings to get a “2” or “1” out of 10…
Best defensive play – Span’s throw, hands down. However, Wells’ catch to rob Span leading of the game saved at least one run…might have made a difference.
Ruiz – Yes, get him more AB. Rest Gomez often, bring him in late for defense. Harris needs to get out of the doghouse as well.

a few answers
Perkins giving up 3/4 of the lead back-to-back was the turning point.
“3 out of 10” seems about right.
Span’s throw was the best defensive play.
I don’t blame Bonser – that was the place in the game where we’ve been bringing him in. It wasn’t his fault the lead was down to 1.

i dont blame boof either
he just shouldnt be pitching in situations like that, i rather have brian bass back to pitch in those situations, all of the fault lies on dumbass gardy, i dont like him, everyone makes him out to be a brillant manager, but i think that scott ulger could be a better manager than him
