Stars of the Game!

1. Carlos Gomez – Game Saving Catch in Top of the Ninth off the bat of AJ
2. Breslow, Bonser, Mijares, and Nathan – 4 scoreless innings, 1 H and 1 BB given up.
3. Gardy – Gutsy moves (Bullpen work) and not PH for Gomez in the bottom of the 8th inning

Honorable Mentions:

1. Blackburn – 5 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 SO…kept his composure and battled out of jams
2. Mauer – 2 RBI, Key stop on ball in the dirt with Owens on first in the top of the ninth
3. Twins Defense – Harris’ dive, Punto…etc.

Finally:

The Whole Twins Team! Great Performance! Never lost hope and kept battling!

Harris' dive

Was the best play of the game. Nice throw too.

The bullpen

Far and away, the bullpen was the star of this game. I can’t remember the last time they put up four scoreless innings (maybe against the Angels in August?) and they really weren’t lucky. Good pitches in good locations yielding outs. Gomez did make a great play to help Nathan out,. I wouldn’t call it a game-saver, but it made the ninth much more comfortable.

As for not pinch hitting for Punto, well, when you are ahead you seldom change players unless it is a pure platoon. I think gardenhire believes that Punto is the equal or better of Everett at short at this point, and if that is so, you don’t take out your best defensive player at a position.

Well, if that's the case....

then Gardy, as usual, is wrong.

Punto is not close to as good defensively as Everett.

That was just a monster performance

by the bullpen. Those guys came up huge in a critical spot.

They’ve given themselves a shot.

The Bullpen

rocked my freakin world. But the pitching in general has been good- 5 runs in two games vs the Sox, can’t complain there.

Also gotta credit Span and Casilla for coming up big in the early innings. They were both on base twice by the 3rd inning.

But it was a really a team effort. Everyone did something key.

You know what sucks?

I’m in Baltimore. I have been for five days. The Twins get NO COVERAGE. I watched the entire Mets game tonight, JUST to see the ESPN ticker at the bottom of the screen. I was going CRAZY for two hours when it just kept saying “White Sox 2, Twins 3”. When the score went final, I screamed and released.

tear I miss Minneapolis.

You know what was fun?

Watching Mijares, saying “well, this is by far the biggest inning of his career,” and then watching him celebrate after dominating the biggest inning of his career.

I gotta say… this team is growing on me…

Keeping the Sox in the park

The pitching was the star of the game. To beat the Sox., don’t walk batters and don’t give up the long ball. That was the recipe for success.

Sox are having a major league meltdown.

Time for one of those famous run-for-cover meetings in the Sox clubhouse.

2 other good things for the Twins IF we can win tomorrow....

1) The Sox have Vasquez going against Lee in a big game on Sunday, possibly.
2) If they need that game, the Sox have Buehrle going on Monday after throwing 120 pitches tonight on 3 days rest. He could really be gassed.

We need to get tomorrow boys!

TOnight was the toughest matchup of the series, we've got it within our grasp now boys...

Great win

now get back out there and finish them off…

The Pen are my stars of the game but it was a team win for me. The Twins need to come out today with the same fire of the last 2 days and TAKE 1st place from Chicago.
