Pregame

I'm not going to ramble on too much tonight about this game, because we all know exactly how big this one is.  It's Kevin Slowey versus Gavin Floyd; two younger starters with varying degrees of experience.  They both have a chance to become big-time autumn pitchers with good performances tonight.  Floyd has struggled recently, with the home run ball rearing its ugly head, but is still having a good year.  Slowey is the Twins leader in BB/9 and K/BB for starters, and will likely top 160 innings pitched on the season, providing he can pitch into the fourth inning.

After reading those Buehrle comments...

I’ve reached new, long-thought unattainable levels of loathing. Go get ‘em Twins!
I’m thinking Slowey outperforms expectations, Mauer leads us at the plate, and that crazy bullpen comes up HUGE.

Chicago goes home, tail (something else?) inserted between legs, zombie-like after a 2-0 loss to the Hometown boys.

And Slowey! I still think they should have pitched Liriano tonight on three days rest and full rest for a potential one game playoff.

I hope Slowey proves me wrong.

Floyd scares me. He is one of those pitchers that the Twins just can’t seem to figure out. He has pretty much owned us this year. I hope we jump on him early.

My headlines at mlb.com say that Cliff Lee has a sore neck and may miss his last start.

If he doesn’t pitch Sunday and the season isn’t settled, he should (deservedly) be treated by Metrodome fans like AJ is (undeservedly) treated.
