Q: Are you happy with Scott Baker starting the final game of the regular season for the Twins?
My Answer: Yes
by Jesse on Sep 28, 2008 2:09 PM EDT 0 recs
No runs for the Indians
in the first. They got a hit, but the next pitch hit into a DP.

Predictions
1—Kubel, Morneau HR
2—Baker: 7 IP, 2 R, 6 K, 1 BB
3—Gomez, Span SB
4—Punto gets his uniform dirty
5—Twins win 6-2
by Jesse on Sep 28, 2008 2:11 PM EDT 0 recs
Good one!
That can replace number 4, which was sort of an obvious call anyway…

Nice start
for Baker. He needs to go deep today and hopefully the offense won’t strand 23 runners today.

I'd love to see
Justin break out of his doldrums in a BIG way.

A couple quick runs could further deflate the Sox.

Peralta homers in the second. No out.

Good job Morneau
If they don’t give you a pitch, don’t swing. Let’s see Kubes do some damage.

This inning
will set the tone for the offense IMO.

Not the way to start. Just like yesterday…

1-1 in Chicago
Konerko just hit his third homerun in the past two games.
by Twins Territory on Sep 28, 2008 2:29 PM EDT 0 recs
And then a
double for Griffey. I don’t have a good feeling about that game. Unless the Indians go crazy on offense.

Would have been nice
if Lee didn’t pussy out. I hope Halladay win the Cy Young.

Lee should be out of the running for this bitch move.

This is silly
and Joe C. should be ashamed if he doesn’t vote for Lee because he didn’t go today. Did you complain that Grienke didn’t start for the Royals yesterday?

I'm not sure it's the same thing...
Lee is a Cy Young pitcher, and more than anything, I think he wanted to make sure his last start wasn’t a loss or a poor outing. If he doesn’t pitch, nothing can go wrong.

DP for the Indians
after a leadoff single and a 3-1 count to the hitter.

Not as important as the playoffs, but...
Pedroia is 1-1 and hitting .326 now. Mauer is three ahead.

The Indians
just got two, two-out hits and then Hafner hit the first pitch he saw to left for the final out.
by Twins Territory on Sep 28, 2008 3:04 PM EDT 0 recs
I think
Mauer will lose the batting title today.

Morneau isn’t swinging at crap so far.

Tempers
The last three days have made me nearly break many things in my home…I almost threw the TV off the balcony yesterday after the 4th double play.

Damn Punto
All weekend long we’ve been swinging at terrible pitches and watching strikes. Why have we been so bad at baseball this weekend?
by rencito on Sep 28, 2008 3:18 PM EDT 0 recs
The Indians are trying to hand the White Sox the game too. They just started something again and the guy got picked off. And the hitter had a full count and walked the next pitch.
by Twins Territory on Sep 28, 2008 3:18 PM EDT 0 recs
Why do we continue to start Gomez?
Why not Span in CF and Cuddyer in RF?
by rencito on Sep 28, 2008 3:19 PM EDT 0 recs
Gomez saves plenty of runs in CF
Also, Cuddyer is about as miserable at the plate as Gomez.

Gomez
I think Span is actually better. Gomez has a little better range, but Span isn’t as reckless.
Yes, Cuddyer has struggled. But you can’t be worse than Gomez. At least Cuddyer can put the ball in the air when we need it.

De ja vu
This is reminding me of yesterday…we can’t get anything going. I think Baker is going to need a shutout today.
by rencito on Sep 28, 2008 3:20 PM EDT 0 recs
Cuddyer?
He’s clearly not in baseball shape. plus Gomez has had some big hits lately if you havent noticed. Not to mention the defensive advantages
by .mnqwerd on Sep 28, 2008 3:21 PM EDT 0 recs
He's
actually a huge reason we swept the White Sox.

3-1 White Sox
after four. Cleveland has more hits, but can’t get them in.
by Twins Territory on Sep 28, 2008 3:27 PM EDT 0 recs
Yep
Cleveland is leaving their runners on and making stupid plays. Hopefully they can score some and take the lead. Buehrle has 80 pitches heading to the sixth.

for the Indians. They keep shotting themselves in the foot.

Indians
with another single and Peralta goes to second on an error. To bad they hit into a DP.

Come on guys get more runs, Baker please keep pitching well
by caluofmn on Sep 28, 2008 3:39 PM EDT 0 recs
Baker
Is dominating. Too bad the margin of error is razor thin for him since the Twins suck at the plate.

side note
Pedroia is batting now, Mauer leading .328-.326
