From a Sox fan, I'd like to see a winner take all, knock-down, drag-out game to determine the AL Central Champion
I think it would be great entertainment if the Twins and Sox play tomorrow.
Of course, I’d like to see the Sox come out on top, but regardless, it would be fun to watch.
this isn't hard. you live in a port city. and you're a slut. do the math. -larry
It would be better enertainment for Twins fans
if the game was at the Metrodome. A game on the road to determine the season (especially at USCF) does not sound like fun.
Hopefully Freddy Garcia can remember he used to be a big leauge pitcher so it can be avoided.
As a side note, I think SSS is probably the funniest board on SB Nation.
must be b/c you are a fan of Chicago
you’d think having the Twins travel to Chicago is the best entertainment.
I’m just fine w/ Detroit winning today and not playing Chicago again until 2009
I can see where you are coming from
and in a sense, the knock-down, drag-out games occurred at the Metrodome last week, and we all know how that turned out (doh!).
I think it would be a good game and very entertaining, regardless of outcome.
this isn't hard. you live in a port city. and you're a slut. do the math. -larry
I would be extremely pumped for a game like that
if it was in the Dome but like you said I think the face to face match has happened.
The Twins have no one to blame but themselves for being in this spot though, if they would have taken care of business w/ KC they could have won the division already
Yeah, same can be said for the White Sox
but such is baseball, I guess.
this isn't hard. you live in a port city. and you're a slut. do the math. -larry
of course
Why would this season end smoothly???

Pure Hypothetical
If MLB could cancel this game and give it to the Sox with the agreement that the playoff would be played in the dome, would you take it.
Baseball should bring back the scheduled double headers

I hope they have to play two games tomorrow
if they can’t get it done today.

A Tigers/Twins double header?
That would be fun.
by guinness junky on Sep 29, 2008 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions
would be fun
but if both teams are there why not let the Tigers and Twins combine their teams for the best lineup and bullpen vs Chicago? Let our powers combine!
Since we have a White Sux fan here offering his own ideas, I thought I’d share one for him/her
How's Detroit's bullpen looking this year? ;)
I’d certainly have let the Twins take Todd Jones before he retired.
Man, that would be a hell of a day, a tigers / twins potential double header. Can’t say I’d want that one.
this isn't hard. you live in a port city. and you're a slut. do the math. -larry
I wonder if MLB would allow that?
but if today’s game is rained out, I don’t see how they don’t allow it.
Maybe MLB will contact the Tigers and Sox to hop on a bus and play in Milwaukee tonight?
Here's the Detroit lineup today:
Since the widget says Cleveleand
Detroit, (Garcia)
1. C Granderson, CF
2. G Sheffield, DH
3. M Ordonez, RF
4. M Cabrera, 1B
5. M Thames, LF
6. R Raburn, 2B
7. B Inge, 3B
8. D Ryan, C
9. R Santiago, SS
It also says Whit Sox, but I'm assuming that's intentional
"I don't care about feelings." - Lou Piniella
so you guys want the sox to win too right?
nothing gets ‘em wetter than infrequent postings on the city’s second favorite team
only so we can beat them a fourth time in a row
but watching them choke on a 1-6 record to end their season and miss the playoffs would be fine too.

I was wondering today – if there is a 1-game playoff, how do they handle champagne arrangements? Do both teams go halvesies on one playoff-champagne spread, or does each team get one, with the losers donating theirs to the homeless, or what?

I convinced my boss

The stock market just dropped 800 points

I can't wait until the Twins have a Dome
they could call it something like the MetroDome and give it a dome the same color as a baseball to trick visiting teams
700 billion Dome dogs
for all the fans b/c fans can’t go to the game b/c the price of Dome dogs…
fine print though is all 700 billion Dome dogs will go to the luxury suites
not sure I agree with Sheff batting 2nd...
only second basemen can bat second
Come on MAGS
I can’t believe I’m cheering for the Tigers

no its a pretty bad lineup
but Ordonez, Cabrera and Granderson hopefully will get them going…for the one time in my life I am saying GO TIGERS!!!!
Granderson: BB
Now would be a good time for Sheff to redeem his year a little bit. One to the gap would plate Granderson easy.
Speaking of that.
Who has the most annoying “thing” while they’re batting?
Sheffield, Youkalis, or Avilles?
Can we sign garcia
and let Liriano go back to AAA for a while?
I realize that now.
Most of the time i can pick up the sarcasm, but that time it just didn’t transfer through the screen.
I think Garcia
might be pitching for all of the teams out there. He only signed a one-year deal right? Today, with a lot of people watching, he could impress some teams against a playoff contender.

63 pitches
for Floyd already. Their bullpen has been kinda shaky I think.
by Twins Territory on Sep 29, 2008 6:07 PM EDT reply actions
Jenks-Dotel-Thornton is a pretty good trio.
Throw Linebrink in there and they’re doing okay. I’d take their bullpen over ours.
They might have, I didn't check how they scored.
I’m sure you’re right, though. Cleveland scored a lot that series.

it would be huge
I hope Detroit can find a way to get that run back… and then let’s see what happens
Isn't this where
the Twins put a big spot on the board against the Floyd? Or was that someone else?

It's been a number of people this month actually.
They’ve had two base runners so far though, they need to get it going.

Ryan and Santiago
caa they do some damage?
by Twins Territory on Sep 29, 2008 6:27 PM EDT reply actions
White Sox
are never really out because they have some power that can do damage at any time. I hope Detroit can add about three or four this inning.
by Twins Territory on Sep 29, 2008 6:27 PM EDT reply actions
That would be best.
Let’s hope they can pull it off. Garcia might be able to go into lockdown mode if he gets a lead.
If there's one good thing to being in a hospital
It’s that I have time to kill to watch the game… Let’s go Tigers.
They have some
good pitchers, but they’ve been inconsistent. I wonder who they are willing to pitch today. Youngsters only?
by Twins Territory on Sep 29, 2008 6:29 PM EDT up reply actions
But on the plus side,
They’ll start with Armando Galaraga, who has been their best pitcher this year
They'll use Galaraga out of the pen?

Sox Pen
Thornton, 2.69 ERA, 67 IP, 77 K, 19 BB, 48 H
Dotel, 3.80 ERA, 66.1 IP, 92 K, 29 BB, 52 H
Jenks, 2.68 ERA, 60.2 IP, 37 K, 17 BB, 51 H
Linebrink, 3.77 ERA, 45.1 IP, 37 K, 9 BB
Linebrink

2-1 Tigers
Slow start for Tigers and Garcia, but he was great until getting injured a minute ago and the Tigers managed 1 run in each of the last 2 innings. Galaragga is now pitching for the Tigers, with Dye up and Wise on 2nd.
Freddy Garcia pitched well after the first inning,
and Brandon Inge has had a big game. A great defensive play early on, as well as the game-tying RBI double. Gavin Floyd couldn’t hit the strike zone, but survived thanks in large part to a weak Detroit lineup.
